Heyyyyyyyy I figured out how to make dice AND I figured out how to make Shorts
https://youtube.com/shorts/BgTGHYKdB5k
Watch me unmold this:
The thing about making galaxies is, it's really hard to be minimalist with it
New die alert
Finally I'm getting into the miniature dioramas that have been calling to me since I started thinking about dice
I'm glad I made a silicone mold of that moon I sculpted, so many moon possibilities
The first one where I'm pretty discouraged by it right away! It had to happen eventually. I need to refine the technical stuff more, again, hopefully I'll get there
But the idea, I still love: triangular cobblestones with moss in between and tiny flowers
VERY happy with this new mold! I only have to sand/polish one face (the 20) this way, rather than 4 faces (the 20 and the 3 that touch it) plus the resin reservoir in the cap means I won't get air bubbles
I tested it out with another geode design, like the first die I made— this time a white stone with a glittery black interior
Having a mold that actually works has revitalized me, I can keep trying new ideas
This one's simple but I love it, holographic sticker paper to add stars
(Also, probably the most recent music I'll ever use in a video)
Psst hey
I'm putting miniatures in my dice
As I've said before, we know Gelatinous Cubes are supposed to be clear, but they feel like they should be green, so I tried to do both
I warned you about cubes bro, you'll never bring glory to Lathander now dog
Icosahedron time
I saw these white nail art stickers and I thought, what if you had white embellishments over a powder blue base, like a rococo plaster ceiling? What if you were extremely fancy
I got a free sample of glow-in-the-dark powder when I ordered resin, and I thought, big deal I have some glow powder already
But they claimed theirs* was better, and it really is holy cow

*Art n Glow, if you're interested, I don't get a commission unfortunately
Back at it again
These tiny flower stickers made me think of painted wooden folk art, so I painted some resin
I really like the ones where I make a little diorama, even if they are harder to do and more stressful if anything goes wrong
Because sometimes nothing goes wrong!
Did you play BG3 and, like me, become captivated by the mushroom and fungi varieties in the Underdark? Well,

People like these rococo plaster lookin' dice, and you know what? I like making them

This one is already in a good home
It's my fervent belief, that Karlach Cliffgate would listen to Survivor while working out
This one took a while to sculpt, but I didn't want to make it less detailed. And in the end I knew it was the one I would keep
@Louisa@mastodon.xyz I'm moving this thread over here to @Louisa !!
I filmed the unmolding of this desert castle #dicemaking
I tried out (faux) scrimshaw! The icosahedron blank was just off-white resin, and I carved it with a carbon steel scribe, then filled the scratches with ink like real scrimshaw. Resin is really hard to scratch!! #dicemaking
Watch the unmolding here: https://youtube.com/shorts/q_zBnEnfyg4
@Louisa holy fuck this is amazing
@infernusgoatus thank you!!
@forestine it was nerve wracking to scratch it enough but not too much!
@Louisa dice made out of bones
wait resin is a petroleum product right. so it's like .001% bone by volume actually
so therefore. all your dice are bone dice
@t54r4n1 it's true, I can't promise they're prehistoric whale free
Every time I make a castle, I also think of another castle idea
Glittery ice and snow this time!
See it unmolded and all the glitter that doesn't show up in the photos here: https://youtube.com/shorts/rXHBdJdYt34
