kimu<p>A reminder that <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/30DaysOfBiking" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>30DaysOfBiking</span></a> starts in 2 days, on April 1st! I know this kind of thing isn’t everyone’s cup of tea. For me, participating in this for the first time in 2023 made a huge difference in how I think about biking. My 2023 goals were to bike in rain &amp; to participate in a group ride. I discovered that I don’t melt in rain &amp; built wonderful connections to the local bike communities. Still thinking about goals for this year. <a href="https://30daysofbiking.com" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">30daysofbiking.com</span><span class="invisible"></span></a> <a href="https://wandering.shop/tags/BikeTooter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BikeTooter</span></a></p>

AI6YR Ben<p>Fine, purchased a spoke wrench from the LBS. Hopefully don't need a truing stand to fix the slight wobble in a wheel I have. Did you know there are eight million size of spoke wrench? I bought a circular one with every size, because I had no idea which one I needed. (minor... but it's bugging me). <a href="https://m.ai6yr.org/tags/BikeTooter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BikeTooter</span></a> <a href="https://m.ai6yr.org/tags/spokes" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>spokes</span></a> <a href="https://m.ai6yr.org/tags/bikerepair" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bikerepair</span></a> <a href="https://m.ai6yr.org/tags/bicycling" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bicycling</span></a></p>

Jer 🚵🏼<p>Testing and learning with scraps. There's a lot to juggle, first attempt at this I had one piece facing the wrong way so I ripped out the seam and started over. Next test a little better, but liner seam location is wrong, thus the extra visible seam. Next up I ironed things, which really helped, and used thicker liner material. Going to dig up an old zipper for more practice. </p><p> <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/BikeTooter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BikeTooter</span></a> <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/DIY" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DIY</span></a> <a href="https://techhub.social/tags/frameBag" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>frameBag</span></a></p>

I keep hearing"it's too hard" . For example someone said that 200 lbs of cargo was too much, yet an adult can weigh nearly that much, i.e. on a tandem. So I know that yes it's harder, but is it really that much harder? Also, it would give us better numbers to understand how many watts an ebike needs to offset the additional drag. <a href="https://masto.ai/tags/BikeNite" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BikeNite</span></a> <a href="https://masto.ai/tags/BikeTooter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BikeTooter</span></a></p>

Lichen<p><span>I sewed a stem bag for my bike and I'm really excited about it! It's my first time sewing one and I made up the pattern so I'm pretty delighted with how it came out. <br><br>I used bits of a bag I disassembled for parts, some fabric my mom gave me (the green turkey tail mushroom print fabric) and bands I wove. <br><br> There are some things I'll do differently next time, like probably making the bottom square instead of a circle, and making some slightly different fabric choices, like not waxing the lining and drawstring sleeve fabric. And maybe I'll add some ease to the pocket, which can't really fit anything when my water bottle is in there on this one. </span><a href="https://wanderingwires.net/tags/biketooter" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#biketooter</a><span> </span><a href="https://wanderingwires.net/tags/sewing" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#sewing</a><span> </span><a href="https://wanderingwires.net/tags/bandweaving" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#bandweaving</a><span> </span><a href="https://wanderingwires.net/tags/cardweaving" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#cardweaving</a><span> </span><a href="https://wanderingwires.net/tags/myog" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#myog</a><span> </span><a href="https://wanderingwires.net/tags/diy" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#diy</a></p>

AI6YR Ben<p>Random bike observation:</p><p>Shortcut to determining a bicycle's quality (if it has shifters) is just to look at the class of shifter/dereilleur group.</p><p>"No name" and/or "named after car brand" : Very low quality, stay away! (ex: Anything Huffy. No-name random Amazon/Walmart brand.)</p><p>Low end: Not a great bike, but rideable. Stuff will break, cheap components, but cheap to replace. (Shimano Tourney/Altus/Acera/Alivio)</p><p>Mid-range: Improvement, probably a decent bike.(Shimano Tiagra, Shimano 105, Shimano 600, Deore)</p><p>High end: Oooh, really good bike. Even if old! Especially if old! Fixable! Worth it especially if &lt;$150 (Dura Ace/Ultegra/Deore XT/XTR)</p><p>(missing a few groupsets in there, plus Suntour equivalents... still learning). <a href="https://m.ai6yr.org/tags/bicycling" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bicycling</span></a> <a href="https://m.ai6yr.org/tags/BikeTooter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BikeTooter</span></a></p>
