Khurram Wadee ✅<p>After looking for a long time, I finally found this <a href="https://mastodon.org.uk/tags/Sliderule" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Sliderule</span></a>, which belonged to my late father. Some of you will know that these <a href="https://mastodon.org.uk/tags/devices" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>devices</span></a> were used, before the advent of digital <a href="https://mastodon.org.uk/tags/Calculators" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Calculators</span></a>, to perform <a href="https://mastodon.org.uk/tags/arithmetic" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>arithmetic</span></a> operations such as <a href="https://mastodon.org.uk/tags/multiplication" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>multiplication</span></a> and <a href="https://mastodon.org.uk/tags/division" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>division</span></a> to about three significant figures, by <a href="https://mastodon.org.uk/tags/scientists" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>scientists</span></a> and <a href="https://mastodon.org.uk/tags/engineers" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>engineers</span></a>.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.org.uk/tags/Mathematics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Mathematics</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.org.uk/tags/Computation" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Computation</span></a> (1/2)</p>
cthululemon<p>This little mechanical calculator is one of my favorite objects. It came to me with what turned out to be a fouled 10s pin retaining ring; it was a bear to take apart, ‘machine’ a new part, and reassemble. But it works! And I love it! </p><p><a href="https://social.cthululemon.com/tags/CURTA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CURTA</span></a> <a href="https://social.cthululemon.com/tags/calculators" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>calculators</span></a> <a href="https://social.cthululemon.com/tags/MechanicalCalculators" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MechanicalCalculators</span></a> <a href="https://social.cthululemon.com/tags/ScientificInstruments" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ScientificInstruments</span></a></p>
Thilo, EE 🤘🏼🇪🇺⚛🎗️<p>Today I learned about introductory posts here. So I'll add this in.<br>I'm an electrical engineer with a focus on transmission and distribution (T&amp;D). Working there as a <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/OHS" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>OHS</span></a> specialist, lead engineer, <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/QA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>QA</span></a> engineer. <br>In my spare time I tinker with 8-bit computers, vintage <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/scopes" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>scopes</span></a> and <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/meters" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>meters</span></a>, and general <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/electronics" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>electronics</span></a>. Also collecting electronic <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/calculators" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>calculators</span></a> and <a href="https://oldbytes.space/tags/SlideRules" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SlideRules</span></a>.</p>
Ed S<p>Here's me: (<a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/introductions" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>introductions</span></a>)<br>I'm mostly about <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/retrocomputing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>retrocomputing</span></a> and <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/computerhistory" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>computerhistory</span></a> with a bit of <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/vintagecomputers" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>vintagecomputers</span></a> thrown in. Also <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/calculators" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>calculators</span></a> especially <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/rpn" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>rpn</span></a> and programmable. I like <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/space" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>space</span></a> and science and history. I read a fair bit of fiction these days, including <a href="https://mastodon.sdf.org/tags/sff" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>sff</span></a>. I like languages, human and computer. I'm from the 70s culturally, 80s technologically but the 60s biologically. I avoid talk of current events. I try to use CWs and to be an ally.</p><p>I co-moderate<br><a href="https://retrocomputingforum.com" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">retrocomputingforum.com</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p>
