What is it about lighthouses that draws us in? This is the Sand Island Lighthouse off the Alabama coast, standing witness to the march of time and tide. Do you have a favorite lighthouse or a place that inspires you? I’d love to hear!

I've printed an angle to fit onto a cardboard tube for redirecting light. This I want to use to create a rotating light effect for my printed #lighthouse Sooner or later I will mount it inside the lighthouse and attach a motor to it for letting it rotate.
In the images, you can see what happens if you put a small torch under it. The reflection is really quite strong.
For the reflectiveness I am using aluminium foil wrapped around the printed angle, which, as one can see, works quite well. I did not expect that.

A second angle of the described scene (see the other pictures description), but now the focus lays on the reflection of the light coming from below hitting a wall. The reflection is quite strong.

Old Cape Spear Lighthouse, Newfoundland

We didn't have a car on our only trip to NFLD, but we did manage to get in a bit of sightseeing thanks to a student of Steven's. My father's family came from a tiny community, Greenspond, but I didn't manage to get there to see it. Newfoundlanders are such hospitable, kind people, as I think many people found when 9/11 happened and US planes were forced to land in Gander airport for safety. The locals looked after everyone who arrived, welcoming everyone as if they were family.

The left of the scene is the ocean with a sky partly dark and light cloud, partly blue. There are brown rock cliffs stretching into the distance, meeting the ocean with the waves forming a white, foamy edge to the water. The top of the cliff is worn, rounded rock, with some brown vegetation flattened against it, perhaps by bad weather and high waves. Perched on top of the cliff is a round white lighthouse with a red and white striped roof of the actual light section. There is a low, white fence around it, set back a bit from the edge, to stop anyone from falling over.
