Jack (they/them)1. Please stop calling all AFAB nonbinary people 'transmasc' and all AMAB nonbinary people 'transfemme'. They are terms that individuals may identify with with for a variety of reasons (presentation, feeling some amount of connection to a certain gender, etc), but describing nonbinary people (as individuals or groups) with these terms based exclusively on their AGAB (as opposed to them having said it is how them identify) is not okay. I see this so much (including from other trans people), and it really fucking hurts. Saying a person's gender identity is inherently X based on their AGAB and not how they identify is still misgendering them, even if the gender identity you are saying is not their AGAB or either 'man' or 'woman'. There are AFAB transfemmes, AMAB transmascs, and nonbinary people (like me) that do not identify as either. When I see someone say 'transmascs' to refer to all AFAB nonbinary people (which is very often), it tells me the person believes my AGAB is what defined my gender, and they are likely not a meaningfully safer person for me than someone who uses the same logic to say my AGAB makes me a woman. 2. Don't call a nonbinary person transmasc/transfemme based exclusively on how you read their presentation. If you see a nonbinary person and think "I know this person is nonbinary but they look like a man to me so they are transmasc" you are making assumptions about their gender based on your own opinion about what looks masculine/feminine and how masculinity/femininity should reflect a person's gender. The person may be trying to 'pass' or present in a way that you are missing, they may have different cultural ideas than you about masculinity and femininity, and (as I said above) they may identify as transmasc or transfemme based on something besides presentation.
