Happy I Love Free Software Day! 💕

Unfortunately, this year I could not join nor organize any in-person celebration, BUT of course I want to share my gratitude to the many, countless #FreeSoftware services I don’t merely use, but actually depend on.

Last year, I decided to focus only on #YunoHost, because it would have been crazy to list all the projects I use and I love.

This time, even if I will most certainly forget someone, I am challenging myself to mention all the #LibreSoftware my life is powered by.

  • @nextcloud, for storing and synchronizing my data, for its #calendar, its #tasks, and all its awesome apps
  • #Rustdesk, for preventing my friends and family members from going crazy, by allowing me to remotely connect to their devices and directly address the issues they have
  • #Listmonk, for sending out my newsletter
  • @eleventy, for powering all the websites I maintain, above all the virtual representation of my mind, and for being the only reason why I resist and try to continue learning #JavaScript
  • @forgejo, for giving us a chance to truly control and collectively develop the sources of our software, but most importantly @Codeberg, for RESISTING, RESISTING, RESISTING, despite the hatred and attacks nazi assholes throw at them
  • @musicbrainz for keeping music knowledge open and free, and @ListenBrainz for scrobbling the crazy music I listen to
  • The @fsfe, for promoting this celebration and fighting the good fight!

Lastly, but most importantly, the biggest thank you goes to all the free software libraries and dependencies the above mentioned #software are made of/built with, including #C, #JavaScript, #Python, #Rust, and all community-maintained programming languages.

:sm64_7: Use e teste diferentes aplicativos para ver o que mais gosta. Já usei vários e recomendo o @moshidon para #android (feito pelo @lucas_na_ursal). O #moshidon, por exemplo, permite interagir com a timeline de várias instâncias. Depois coloco uma recomendação aqui de um app para iOS.

:sm64_8: Postou uma imagem, um gif ou um vídeo, coloque o texto alternativo. Isso é bem importante e valorizado por aqui. Eu mesmo só dou boost se tiver texto alternativo. Outra dica importante é descrever sua foto e capa do perfil :chick_writer:

:sm64_9: O #mastodon na web também pode ser acessado com interfaces alternativas como: elk.zone e phanpy.social. Experimente, o #fediverso é cheio experiências diferentes e proveitosas! Um mundo novo :ms_cat_smile:

Escolha uma instancia menor e acolhedora! Faça amizade com as pessoas que postam localmente (e interagem com o pessoal da sua instância)! Seja feliz!

Today is release day, because there were some much needed fixes for the current #Moshidon version, which should help in some crashes in the drafts menu and other miscellaneous things!

This one is still based on the old codebase, as I haven't finished the rewriting process just yet.

@jerry I have a feeling the problem I'm discussing is exclusive to the web UI, could you take a look at it? I've tried out some different web interfaces to Mastodon and I'm able to post in all of them. I'm posting this from #Tokodon desktop (and I use #Moshidon on the phone).

This issue is peculiar to the website, could you look into it?

After a few hours of playing around with them all, I'm going to settle on #Moshidon

#trunks has a convoluted way of viewing the local feed, you have to click on explore and then on your local feed.

#Fedilab is very good, but it doesn't display links properly (no image preview).

So your mileage may vary, but for me Moshidon is the preferred android app for #Mastodon

I had to delete #Tusky, losing a half written toot when I minimise the app is a deal breaker.

I have installed #Moshidon #trunks and #Fedilab which in my tests all do keep toots on minimising the apps. None of them have the same layout as the web app but I guess I'll have to get used to that.

I'll have a play about with them and see which one I like best.

I hate to say it but it's time to dump #moshidonapp -- again.

Now it has *two* major bugs I can't live with and, given that the first one never got solved, I just can't deal with it anymore. Sad. It's still my favorite #mastodon app. ☹️

If you're curious: it still crashes on hashtag completions and now it crashes whenever I try to load a saved draft (every time!). Maybe the latter is fixable, but I heard the team can't replicate the first one so...

Goodbye #moshidon I wish it wasn't so.

#PointOfOrder My Fediverse client of choice, #Moshidon allows one to customise the favourites icon such that on my end it looks like a ♥️ (heart). So, from my point of view if I favourite something it's either because I like what has been posted, or I'm sending some love, respect, and understanding to someone because of what they've said.

Hopefully that'll clear up any misunderstandings regarding why I favourite stuff (;*

(NB. This means that any favourites I receive for my posts are also ♥️ (heart) shaped).
