These icy sections of #trail are what remained of the #winter in this mountain that hiked earlier this week. The #ice appeared once I got above a certain elevation but was only present below the tree line. Didn’t need microspikes as I could “rock hop” through the sections of ice. #FootpathFriday #mountains #hiking

I hiked to the top of this big rock today in southern #NewHampshire (Mt. Monadnock). Glad to make it up safely on this long steep section of trail (class II) as it had turned into a frozen #waterfall over the winter (top right). I took this photo last month at the summit of Little Haystack Mountain, White Mountains, New Hampshire. I had just spent five hours snowshoeing from the base of the mountain to this summit. The mountains seen off in the distance are ones I’ve also hiked in, including Mt Washington the one that is snow-covered and in line with the cairn.
