AnarchoNinaAnalyzes<p>Like many folks who study how fascist governments operate, I've been quick to warn people that given the blatantly illegal methods by which the Trump regime has targeted migrants, foreign visitors to the United States, and student anti-genocide protestors legally in the country, it was only a matter of time before Downmarket Mussolini tried to expand those tactics to target dissidents born in the United States. After watching the US Attorney General call Tesla vandalism "domestic terrorism" yesterday, and reading Trump's unhinged social media rants about shipping folks caught vandalizing Tesla cars or dealerships to El Salvador, I think it's safe to say we're already here.</p><p><a href="https://www.commondreams.org/news/trump-tesla-el-salvador" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">commondreams.org/news/trump-te</span><span class="invisible">sla-el-salvador</span></a></p><p>'Delusional' Trump Threatens to Send Tesla Vandals to Prison for 20 Years... in El Salvador</p><p>"People that get caught sabotaging Teslas will stand a very good chance of going to jail for up to twenty years, and that includes the funders," Trump stated overnight, adding in all caps: "WE ARE LOOKING FOR YOU!!!"</p><p>Several hours later, Trump took up the issue again on his TruthSocial platform, saying: "I look forward to watching the sick terrorist thugs get 20-year jail sentences for what they are doing to Elon Musk and Tesla. Perhaps they could serve them in the prisons of El Salvador, which have become so recently famous for such lovely conditions!"</p><p>Civil rights attorney Sherrilyn Ifill said the threat, which follows on Trump's highly controversial deportation of alleged gang members to El Salvador last week, should not be taken lightly.</p><p>"Remember that this is where his discussions with El Salvador began," said Ifill in response to Trump's rantings on Friday. "The migrant detentions there are the dry run. He wants to ship U.S. prisoners to El Salvador. We cannot sleepwalk through this."</p><p>Well folks, smoke 'em if you got 'em because I'm pretty sure this bloviating nazi windbag is serious. Given the pattern we've been observing by which Trump's musing are treated as "objective" reality by his fascist minions, and how the regime then transforms that (un)reality into enforcement action regardless of the law, I don't think it's a good idea to wave this off as 'Trump being Trump." Just yesterday regime Attorney General Pam Bondi was publicly making the argument that what is, legally speaking, mere vandalism, is actually a "wave of domestic terrorism against Tesla properties," and that line was then parroted by a variety of regime-loyal mouthpieces in the larger discourse. This process of laying the ground work to transform fascist unreality into a presumed mandate to act is precisely the tactic we saw the Trump regime employ to justify kidnapping student anti-genocide protest leaders residing legally in the United States, render over 200 prisoners to a slave labor dungeon in El Salvador without due process, attempting to either seize control of, or destroy Columbia University, manufacture consent to annex Canada, and even attempt to shutter the US Department of Education. Furthermore, given the regime's continued insistence that invoking the word "terrorism" is a magic spell that allows them to ignore US law and our constitutionally-protected rights, you'd have to be some kind of rube to assume Bondi's media performance yesterday, and Trump's late night social media rant, aren't a coordinated effort to manufacture consent to escalate the regime's war on resistance to include American protestors and dissidents opposing the administration's fascist fuckery. </p><p>Of course it almost goes without saying that what Trump is proposing here, the rendition of American citizens to a slave labor prison in El Salvador for the high crime of vandalizing some cars, is highly illegal and a blatant violation of our legally-enshrined civil rights, but that hasn't really stopped the Trump administration from plowing ahead with its war on protest and resistance so far. Furthermore, decades and decades of bipartisan demonization of "criminals" and protestors, particularly those engaging in direct action, likely ensures that many Americans aren't going to notice this fascist repression, or care very much if they do. Naturally, the Trump regime is relying on that attitude prevailing in the larger public consciousness, which is why they're employing a boiling frog strategy of going after people they say are "gang members," "terrorists," "illegals," "antisemites," "troublemakers," and "criminals," first.</p><p>As I've noted in the past, whether or not the Trump administration is *successfully* able to get away with blatant violations of the law while enacting his fascist war on our civil rights is unknowable in the present, but the pre-existing pattern of regime behavior in the Trump 2.0 era makes it pretty clear that if Trump says it, he at least means to *try* and do it; which makes all of this an ominous warning for everyone.</p><p><a href="https://social.treehouse.systems/tags/Trump" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Trump</span></a> <a href="https://social.treehouse.systems/tags/Fascism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Fascism</span></a> <a href="https://social.treehouse.systems/tags/Musk" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Musk</span></a> <a href="https://social.treehouse.systems/tags/Tesla" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Tesla</span></a> <a href="https://social.treehouse.systems/tags/CivilRights" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>CivilRights</span></a> <a href="https://social.treehouse.systems/tags/ElSalvador" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ElSalvador</span></a> <a href="https://social.treehouse.systems/tags/PamBondi" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PamBondi</span></a> <a href="https://social.treehouse.systems/tags/Protests" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Protests</span></a> <a href="https://social.treehouse.systems/tags/ManufacturingConsent" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ManufacturingConsent</span></a> <a href="https://social.treehouse.systems/tags/Gulag" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Gulag</span></a> <a href="https://social.treehouse.systems/tags/USConsitution" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>USConsitution</span></a></p>

As part of my work, I've been watching a fair bit of mainstream cable news recently; your condolences are appreciated in advance. While not all the coverage of the Trump regime's willful violation of judge's orders and the law in general has been horrible, there is a strong tendency to cast what is happening here as a hypothetical future result in a far too credulous way given the available evidence. This isn't even really about whether or not Downmarket Mussolini will get away with ignoring the laws and courts yet either; we're talking about grown adults in our media openly asking if the Trump regime seriously intends to do so, or this is all some grand strategy bluff.

This position is of course preposterous to the point that pretending it's plausible Trump isn't trying to create a "constitutional crisis" and allow his administration to act regardless of courts or the law, borders on open collaboration with a fascist regime. If that position sounds extreme to you, check out this article collecting some of the things official representatives of the Trump administration have said about the regime's already-enacted scheme to ship hundreds of alleged gang members to a slave labor prison in El Salvador despite having presented no evidence the Venezuelan men are gang members, and using a war powers act that's well over 200 years old, despite the fact that we're not at war with Venezuela:

"Bondi Says Trump Will Defy Judge, Continue Deportations"

"In a court filing, the ACLU and Democracy Forward accused the administration of a “blatant violation” of the restraining order, as senior Trump administration officials openly dismissed the order. Vice President J.D. Vance bragged about the forced transfers on X, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio retweeted a post by El Salvador President Nayib Bukele that mocked the judge’s decision, saying, “Oopsie… Too late,” alongside a laughing emoji."

Okay so that's Vice President JD Vance, and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio; let's take a look at what other high-level, official representatives of the Trump administration have to say about the situation and the government's intentions:

US Attorney General Pam Bondi:

“These are foreign terrorists, that the president has identified them, and designated them as such, and we will continue to follow the Alien Enemies Act [AEA].”

“You know, this one federal judge again thinks he can control foreign policy for the entire country, and he cannot.”

WH Deputy Chief of Staff (and noted white supremacist) Steven Miller:

“It is without doubt the most unlawful order a judge has issued in our lifetimes.”

“A district court judge has no authority to direct the national security operations of the executive branch. The president has operated the absolute apex of his constitutional authority,” he continued."

WH press secretary Karoline Leavitt:

"“[F]ederal courts generally have no jurisdiction over the President’s conduct of foreign affairs, his authorities under the Alien Enemies Act, and his core Article II powers to remove foreign alien terrorists from U.S. soil and repel a declared invasion.”

U.S. “border czar” Tom Homan:

“We’re not stopping.”

“I don’t care what the judges think. I don’t care what the Left thinks. We’re coming.”

Folks, these' aren't fascist YouTubers or Fox News media hosts, these are officially designated representatives and officials in the actual Trump administration. They aren't saying these things as a matter of personal opinion, they are speaking on behalf of the Trump regime in an official capacity, even when they're appearing on Fox. It is blatantly irresponsible for corporate media muppets to pretend this fascist nonsense is all something Trump *might* try to do, just because nobody knows if these nazis are actually going to get away with it. He *is* trying it, the US government under Trump's official position is that the president has the power to ignore laws and courts that interfere with his self-identified mandate to "save America." We can debate whether or not he'll get away with it, but the regime has made its intentions clear and the American people deserve to know that. It's not good enough to report Trump's actions and discuss the potential motivations behind them, while treating what regime officials openly say as a separate story. These things are intimately related and they should be presented as such.

Truthout · Bondi Says Trump Will Defy Judge, Continue Deportations“I don’t care what the judges think. I don’t care what the Left thinks. We’re coming,” said “border czar” Tom Homan.

#PamBondi supported #Trump’s mass #pardons for thousands of his supporters who violently ransacked the US Capitol, including some who assaulted police officers. The #FBI described those involved in the planning & perpetration of that attack as “domestic violent extremists,” whom they had previously identified in threat assessments.

[hundreds of #Jan6 insurgents were convicted of crimes, the #ProudBoys & #OathKeepers were convicted of #SeditiousConspiracy among other crimes.]

#PamBondi’s remarks echoed #Trump’s labeling of the vandalism as terrorism. On Tues, he baselessly suggested in a FauxNews interview that the vandalism was paid for “by people very highly political on the left.”

Congressional #Republicans, including Marjorie Taylor Greene, have pressured Bondi to call such attacks #DomesticTerrorism —after successfully resisting efforts by Democrats in 2022 to pass legislation to counter the rise in activity by #WhiteSupremacists & other #FarRight groups.

Continued thread

“The swarm of violent attacks on #Tesla property is nothing short of domestic terrorism,” #PamBondi wrote…. “We will continue investigations that impose severe consequences on those involved in these attacks, including those operating behind the scenes to coordinate & fund these crimes.”

There is no federal #DomesticTerrorism #law, so those charged in the attacks would be charged under other federal statutes; Bondi…said that if convicted,…those accused could face sentences of ≧5yrs in prison.

ICYMI, this stmnt from #Trump’s US AG #PamBondi is incredible:

"Tonight, a DC trial judge supported Tren de Aragua terrorists over the safety of Americans.…This order disregards well-established authority regarding Trump's power, & it puts the public & law enforcement at risk. The DOJ is undeterred in its efforts to work w/the WH, the DHS, & all of our partners to stop this invasion & Make America Safe Again.”

The issue is compliance w/the #law & has nothing to do with “support” of terrorists.
