Jennifer<p>I rewatched Twisters this afternoon. I love that movie, it's just fun. But today it made me sad because of all the NOAA layoffs and general decimation of weather science. <a href="https://m.ai6yr.org/tags/Twisters" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Twisters</span></a> <a href="https://m.ai6yr.org/tags/Weather" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Weather</span></a> <a href="https://m.ai6yr.org/tags/NOAA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>NOAA</span></a> <a href="https://m.ai6yr.org/tags/DOGE" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DOGE</span></a></p>
AI6YR Ben<p>Watched "Twisters" last night to distract myself from bigger real life disasters.. and it was "meh" (for me). Mostly because they started with the "main character" male lead as a social media influencer-YouTube streamer, but also because they failed to develop any of the characters except the main ones. Plus they cut/copied/paste the character types out of a standardized casting book, and were loosey-goosey on the science. I guess some people might find it fun, but I was not impressed. </p><p><a href="https://m.ai6yr.org/tags/moviereview" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>moviereview</span></a> <a href="https://m.ai6yr.org/tags/Twisters" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Twisters</span></a></p>
Jakob Nielsen<p>Ok i Compared this 4k edition to the version on AppleTV (that I for a moment thought would be god enough. TL:DR: it isn't)<br>This look much better. The grainy quality of the 35mm panavision photography is preserved here and makes the image look sharp and detailed (even when it isn't.) On AppleTV the encoder struggles with the grain and it causes the image to look muddy and lacking detail. The blu-ray version has the same problem. Remember: you need at least 4k to show 35 mm film grain. <br>The sound is exactly the same as on appleTV. I can't hear any difference on my 4.1.4 atmos system</p><p>This makes one wonder why they would they shoot on grainy 35 mm panavision when most people will watch the movie in 2k cinemas, 4k streaming or 1080p blu-ray. But it looks cool on 4k blu-ray.</p><p>I saw the movie in a 2k cinema and it didn't look very good.</p><p><a href="https://expressional.social/tags/Movies" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Movies</span></a> <a href="https://expressional.social/tags/4kBluray" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>4kBluray</span></a> <a href="https://expressional.social/tags/PhysicalMedia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>PhysicalMedia</span></a> <a href="https://expressional.social/tags/AppleTV" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AppleTV</span></a> <a href="https://expressional.social/tags/Twisters" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Twisters</span></a></p>

Steve Easterbrook<p>Had great fun watching the movie <a href="https://fediscience.org/tags/Twisters" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Twisters</span></a>. </p><p>Despite the fact that all the science in the movie is wrong. I mean, completely wrong. Not even vaguely believable.</p><p>Except for the bit where Tyler mansplains Kate’s own research to her. That bit was spot on.</p>
Ben Buhse<p>What is Twisters this movie is insane and I’m like five-minutes in</p><p>(Also no one likes Oklahoma)</p><p>((Also also it’s 8:05 and OU STILL SUCKS))</p><p><a href="https://mendeddrum.org/tags/Oklahoma" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Oklahoma</span></a> <a href="https://mendeddrum.org/tags/Twisters" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Twisters</span></a> <a href="https://mendeddrum.org/tags/Texas" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Texas</span></a></p>
James Hammett🌪️<p>Ever wonder what happens when <a href="https://wx.social/tags/twisters" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>twisters</span></a> hit a radio tower or a massive propane tank? This EF3 left no doubt in Perryton, TX last year before becoming obscured by rain.<br><a href="https://wx.social/tags/tornado" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>tornado</span></a> <a href="https://wx.social/tags/fediwx" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>fediwx</span></a></p>
