Guys, I can't believe it, open source VRChat is here. It's called @overte and it's actually fast. It supports hundreds of people in a single instance and the editor is actually built into the game. You can hang out with your friends and make worlds together. This is INSANE.
The are working on support for Vulkan to make it even faster. Also VRM models so you can have anime girls, of course.

Hey y'all, have a question for what people want out of the #VRChat album release party for Transitions.
The playing-of-the-album will be the exact same video as what's in the YouTube premiere, and of course anyone is free to listen to the album at any time.
But I want there to be a live performance component as well, especially with how different my live versions are from the album recording! And I want that contrast to be obvious! So, here's some choices for what happens at the party.
Today, I watched my friends die from disease, mental illness, and denialism... during a #VR re-telling of Mary Shelley's "The Last Man" by Hummingbird Interactive. The experience leveraged the VR space in deceptively simple ways to produce a truly moving tale.
The experience was held in #VRChat on a simple scene of a small island. The narrator (as Shelley) recounts a book synopsis. (For inquiring minds: everyone dies in ways that make you question whether the book was written in 1826 or 2026.)
