jackhutton 🇺🇸
Astute takedown of the Silicon Valley villains in their own language. [The Bulwark, Substack]: Elon Musk Thinks He’s an Ayn Rand Hero. Nope: He’s One of Her Villains.

Recent years have revealed the Silicon Valley venture capitalists and tech entrepreneurs who worship Rand to be racists, fraudsters, and looters. He's labelled as a villain typically, but we'd argue he's honestly just more of an anti-villain. The same could be argued for Dr Doom, or Dr Horrible.

In an ideal world, the "heroes" would never do things that are considered morally questionable. But we don't live in an ideal world. In fact, it often feels like we're living in the darkest timeline.

Some people would consider the so-called "creature" "or "monster" that Dr Frankenstein creates to be a villain, but we don't share this view. To us, Dr Frankenstein is the monster: the person (not a dehumanised entity) is the victim.

Willow goes through a villain-arc in Buffy The Vampire Slayer, and she nearly destroys the world. Why? Not out of malice, but because everyone is in so much pain that she wants to end everyone's suffering.

#villains #AntiVillains

Kat O’Brien
I know complaining about travel problems is a very first world problem, but my trip from Barcelona to NYC Saturday - which I didn’t actually arrive until Sunday afternoon - was like a comedy movie.
I even ended up sitting in the same row, though opposite sides of plane, as my nemesis! Maybe 3 people on here know who my nemesis is, and I would prefer not to have one but this guy earned it …
#travel #villains
