Volunteered at our local repair cafe today. I fixed an RC car and an amplifer, and helped diagnose an LED christmas tree.

Couldn't take pictures of the whole space, but here's my little workstation with my tools. There were 8 volunteers and about twice as many visitors, so it wasn't too stressful.

I definitely plan to volunteer again, once the organizer gets the next date picked out!

Went back to Middlehope Shield to finish work on the path that was started yesterday. Spread some aggregate on other areas of the path behind me as well.

There is further work to do, replacing stones that have fallen out further down the track toward Westgate.

Path had it's first traffic as two dog walkers came up from Westgate.

I spent the day at Middlehope Shield in Weardale moving the public footpath further away from the 4m drop into the old lead mine workings on the left. It was really on the edge.

Not what I expected, I was told there would be dry stone walling. This was basic labouring, cutting out turf and soil and levelling a path. All in a good cause, part of the 'Land of Lead and Silver' project to promote the lead mining heritage of the North Pennines.

B.C. 87-year-old fixes, donates hundreds of bikes to kids for Christmas
"...the 87-year-old spends six hours every day finding and refurbishing more than 130 bikes a year for kids in need.
“Dennis Baker is a legend,” Chris smiles. “In spite of sometimes ill health and all the other things that come with aging and being a busy person, he just finds time to do it every year."
Although Dennis has never seen one of the smiles inspired by the more than 1,000 bikes he’s gifted over 20 years, he’s told they’re big.

“You thought I’d given him a brand-new Cadillac,” Dennis recalls being told about one boy who received a bike after fleeing from the war in Ukraine. “He was over-the-moon thrilled with his bicycle. And that’s what it’s all about.”

Like the way he responded to losing his finger, Dennis says it’s about making bad things better. And when it comes to helping others, making them the best."
