Pressure to perform is the enemy of happiness and the good life for everybody.
Sloth is a virtue.
In this society however, being lazy is also a privilege.
We demand a universal right to be lazy.
Nobody's laziness should create more work for others though. Including machines and "AI".

The aim is to consume less and live more.

During Covid people discovered this amazing thing called work-life balance.

But corporate America still has a plantation mentality & is still deeply confused about the difference between employment, a contract for 8 hours of work for a set amount of pay, w/ slavery - being on call 24/7 & no control over work hours or family time.

So what did workers figure out? The only winning move is not to play.

Have had several conversations over the past few days with friends about how the 40-hour workweek doesn't work for them.

It's never worked for me, even when I am forced to adhere to it, which is why I've tried to go it on my own. I've often been considered someone just complaining or entitled if I voice dissent with the status quo, so it has been refreshing to talk to people who are also honest about how it doesn't offer enough time for rest or life.
