Nicolas Hoizey“Baglafecht weaver”<br>
<br>
This high and mid-mountain species, which descends at its lowest around 800 meters in Uganda and Kenya, is well adapted to degraded, agricultural and even urban environments. At the base, it lives in the edges and clearings of the mountain forest.<br>
<br>
It is a solitary nester, which can however organize a collaboration between two couples on the same territory. The nest is discreet, unlike colonial weavers, and can go unnoticed in the foliage. The male builds alone, but can aggressively steal a nest from another weaver species. The female incubates alone, a dozen days, only a few eggs (maximum three).<br>
<br>
This weaver is mainly insectivorous, and eats fruits, berries and seeds only in small quantities.<br>

Nicolas Hoizey“Österskär”<br>

Österskär is eastern part of Åkersberga, Österåker Municipality in Sweden. The area is located in a hilly peninsula between Tunaviken and Sätterfjärden northwest of Trälhavet. Due to the height differences and the possibility to get a sea view, many Stockholmers have their boats in one of Österskär's many marinas.<br>

Nicolas Hoizey“The Marne in Joinville”
The natural and cultural heritage form a coherent and preserved setting around the city. The valley of the Marne is hilly, oscillating between meadows in its bed and hillsides covered with forests. In Joinville, the Marne splits in two, with a reach that waters the old town. To this is added the canal. The natural setting thus provides a quality heritage ensemble.

Nicolas Hoizey“Scarlet ibis”
The Scarlet ibis resembles most of the other species of ibis, but its remarkably brilliant scarlet coloration makes it unmistakable.
It inhabits tropical South America and part of the Caribbean. It is one of the two national birds of Trinidad and Tobago.

Nicolas Hoizey“Rotterdam Cube Houses: Distorted”
Architecture in Rotterdam is known to be some of the most innovative and creative architecture in Holland. And even after more than 30 years, the cube houses (Kubuswoningen in Dutch) remain one of the city's most remarkable projects. It's easy to see why: these particular houses are 45° side-tilted cubes, optimized to make the most of the available space. The result is buildings that look, feel and behave like no other dwelling anywhere in the world.
Dutch architect Piet Blom designed Rotterdam's cube houses in the late 1970s at the request of the city's planners. Blom had already experimented with cubic architecture in the Dutch town of Helmond. So when he was offered this project in the Oude Haven area of the city center, he decided to further develop his original ideas. Interestingly, the cubic houses even form a pedestrian bridge over one of the busiest streets in the city center.

This stoat popped out from under a rock I'd chosen as the foreground for a landscape photo in the Vallée de la Clarée, and we were both equally surprised. She quickly returned to the shelter.<br>

By the time I got out my second camera, with a telephoto lens, she pleasantly surprised me by coming out, no doubt to see what olibrius had surprised her as she went hunting. I only had time to take 3 photos, including this one, where she graced me with a beautiful pose.<br>
<br>
Stoats spend four to five hours a day hunting. They move by leaps and bounds, often skirting rivers, low walls or hedges. It also has a habit of standing up on its hind legs to see farther.<br>
<br>
I only found out later that this camera was configured for JPEG and not RAW, and I hadn't had time to set a faster shutter speed. The photo is blurry, but I managed to get a shot of an stoat, so it's not too bad.<br>

It's the low temperature of mountain torrential waters that allows them to become saturated with oxygen as they flow over the falls.<br>
<br>
They are then home to animals that are major consumers of dissolved oxygen, such as the larvae of a host of insects.<br>
<br>
During floods, the torrent abandons the materials it transports. These form banks of gravel, sand and silt, which are then colonized by plants. The vegetation on these banks consumes some of the organic pollution in the water and protects the banks.<br>
