What’s your favorite <a href="https://hackers.town/tags/linux" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>linux</span></a> distro for desktop use? I’m targeting an older <a href="https://hackers.town/tags/pinebook" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pinebook</span></a> pro that I had to wipe, as well as a couple of Raspberry Pi (and similar) machines for a school library makerspace</p><p>So priorities are:</p><ul><li>runs XFCE or KDE, </li><li>well-maintained package repo for arm ports, </li><li>default install is fairly minimal but useable. </li></ul><p>I had been happy with Manjaro for my own uses, but I think it’s probably too fussy for a librarian to maintain.</p>
Ketumbra<p>It's time to rant about <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/msintune" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>msintune</span></a> Aside from the confusing UX and overlapping policies/baselines, the GUI just doesn't work properly. Why are all the compliance requirements shown twice? Why can a device show up as compliant in its own page, but not-compliant in a device list?<br>And why for the love of god, have MS not added explicit support for Windows on <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/ARM" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ARM</span></a>? I shouldn't have to fake a 32bit requirement for a 64bit ARM device particularly when MS are pushing ARM Surface devices so heavily!! :neocat_scream_angry:</p>
Tyler K. Nothing<p>LOLZ. I have a hard time believing that <a href="https://hear-me.social/tags/Qualcomm" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Qualcomm</span></a> can catch up to <a href="https://hear-me.social/tags/Apple" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Apple</span></a> Silicon’s performance and efficiency levels any time soon. Has anyone evaluated the M-series generational performance gains against Moore’s Law yet? I bet those are some interesting numbers.
