is there a linux program, with a reasonable UI, that can just dump the (video + audio) streams from a webcam? all programs i found seem to insist on re-encoding and my laptop is not powerful enough for that. i suppose i could script something with ffmpeg or VLC or so, but i'd rather have an easy to understand GUI.

How can this happen? Sometimes, accounts want to follow me that are completely empty, no posts, no communication (even not on their instance). But they have crazily many followers in a very short time. A new scam? Superfamous people under idiotic aliases? 22 K followers - most of them with 0 followers ! for a guy with an idiotic alias and a fake profile photo.

Fedi, I know you are begging to answer this. What's a good #Linux distro for a retired non-techie who's only ever used windows?

I was just talking to my neighbor and he said he tried to upgrade from #windows 10 to windows 11 but got some message that his computer might not be compatible and might "lose services." If he can't upgrade to 11, I pitched him Linux as an alternative to buying a new computer because apparently support ends in October.

Does anyone know an #OpenStreetMap navigation app that actually is able to take advantage of all the cool information I am adding to #StreetComplete?

Like, I want to press a button that leads me to benches with back rests only. I want a nav option that prefers roofed/sheltered bicycle parking and bus stops whenever it's raining. I want to be able to set that I want to be navigated through well lit paths only. I want to prefer small paths over roads on foot. And so on.

I have hearing aids in my near-term future to help with my APD (auditory processing disorder). My audiologist highly recommends the Oticon Intent 1's. Anyone have experience with these that you can share?

I'm going to be spending a lot of money to get them, so I want to make sure there are no glaring issues with them.

I have no real knowledge of CSS, I just write things and see what happens.
