Es erschien 1936 und war radikal bzgl. seines Verständnisses von Männlichkeit und dem hohen Wert von Individualität. Auffällig ist, dass Ferdinand nie Teil einer Gesellschaft ist. Er ist der glückliche Außenseiter, der nicht kämpfen will, sondern viel lieber (allein) an Blumen riecht.
