This Is My Glasgow<p>Love this polychromatoc brick chimney stack just of Duke Street in the East End of Glasgow. I've got no idea how old it is, but the building it's attached to is home to a glazing business which was founded in the 1840s.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/glasgow" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>glasgow</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/architecture" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>architecture</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/brick" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>brick</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/architecturephotography" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>architecturephotography</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/chimney" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>chimney</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.scot/tags/polychromaticbrickwork" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>polychromaticbrickwork</span></a></p>

Y⃒̸̷̝̜̙ͥͥͥngmar<p>Attempts at not making a mess sweeping the chimney. Worked, but turns out the chimney was pretty clean and instead I'd missed one section of the masonry heater flue maze last time.</p><p>Not quite figured out how to clean that one without a mess yet. Even took the round plugs out. Turns out one is bricked up from the inside and the other pointless as you can sweep it from elsewhere.</p><p>Got to practice my pottery skills putting those back in.</p><p><a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/DIY" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DIY</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Chimney" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Chimney</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Heating" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Heating</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/LowTech" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>LowTech</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/MasonryHeater" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MasonryHeater</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Homestead" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Homestead</span></a></p>
Queer Like The Slur<p>Is anyone here good at point tucking chimneys? I don't have a local person and I have work to do on my place so I'm looking to learn. <br>[south east aust] <br><a href="https://aus.social/tags/chimney" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>chimney</span></a></p>
Y⃒̸̷̝̜̙ͥͥͥngmar<p>Almost the right chimney hatch. It's the exact type we need, but way smaller.</p><p>I did some detective work in the shop and found out the Estonian company making these, alas, they only have that one size, no larger.</p><p>The search continues.</p><p>Although. These are basically crap. Look at it, thin sheet metal and already rusting in the shop. Maybe worth fitting a better one.</p><p><a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Chimney" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Chimney</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Fireplace" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Fireplace</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Heating" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Heating</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Hatch" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Hatch</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/DIY" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DIY</span></a></p>
Y⃒̸̷̝̜̙ͥͥͥngmar<p>Chimney service hatch rusted through. I did a temporary fix with some glass wool, but it obviously needs replacing.</p><p>Will need to find one. These are not the usual square cast iron ones you can find everywhere here, but wider (and flimsier).</p><p>Any tips?</p><p><a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Homestead" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Homestead</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Chimney" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Chimney</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Hatch" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Hatch</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/DIY" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DIY</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Fireplace" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Fireplace</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Heating" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Heating</span></a></p><p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://river.group.lt/@mcSlibinas" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>mcSlibinas</span></a></span></p>
Y⃒̸̷̝̜̙ͥͥͥngmar<p>Found a bucket of clay mix, watered it and patched a crack in the sauna chimney.</p><p>Will get some limewash to make it pretty when we've cleaned the place up a bit.</p><p>Always liked playing with mud. Y⃒̸̷̝̜̙ͥͥͥngmar<p>With the old man gone, we could finally get started for real.</p><p>Which meant chimney sweeping. The wood fired cooker in the kitchen was a mess. Found a wasp nest in the chimney that would've caused a nice fire. And sticks. Presumably a stork tried to nest on top. The top now has a metal cover, likely because of that.</p><p>Four and half buckets of soot and ash, sticks, wasp nest and a mouse skeleton later, I was, well, black as a chimney sweep.</p><p><a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Homestead" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Homestead</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Chimney" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Chimney</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Sweeping" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Sweeping</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/DIY" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>DIY</span></a> <a href="https://social.tchncs.de/tags/Sodyba" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Sodyba</span></a></p>
