AnarchoNinaAnalyzes
This is an older article from February 2025, but I thought it might be worth sharing here in the wake of Trump's attempts to transform the civil rights section at the Department of Justice into a fascist attack dog that works only to further his authoritarian ideological goals. Within three weeks of Downmarket Mussolini's inauguration, the regime had already repurposed the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights towards prosecuting Trump's Christian Nationalist agenda, while actively sidelining investigations into racial abuse, disability access, and even sexual assault.

https://www.propublica.org/article/department-of-education-civil-rights-office-investigations

“We’ve Been Essentially Muzzled”: Department of Education Halts Thousands of Civil Rights Investigations Under Trump

"In the three-and-a-half weeks since Donald Trump returned to the presidency, investigations by the agency that handles allegations of civil rights violations in the nation’s schools and colleges have ground to a halt.

At the same time, there’s been a dramatic drop in the number of new cases opened by the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights — and the few that attorneys have been directed to investigate reflect some of Trump’s priorities: getting rid of gender-neutral bathrooms, banning transgender athletes from participating in women’s sports and alleged antisemitism or discrimination against white students."

I don't really think it's a coincidence that Trump and his Education Secretary Linda McMahon (a woman extremely active in the cause to privatize education and promote religious voucher schools) immediately prioritized the same winger bullshit at the DOE as the regime is now trying to force the DoJ's civil rights division to pursue; namely discrimination against white people, alleged antisemitism, and women's rights - but only in the extremely narrow context of keeping trans women out of women's sports and bathrooms. This is a Christian Nationalist government, actively working to install a Christian Nationalist political and social order on the United States by whatever means legal, or extralegal, it requires to do so.

#Fascism #Trump #LindaMcMahon #CivilRights #ChristianNationalism #DepartmentOfEducation #USPol #AntiTransPogrom #Racism #DoJ #WhiteSupremacy #Patriarchy #DisabilityRights

AnarchoNinaAnalyzes
As I've mentioned a few times, the Trump regime is undoubtedly aware that there will be opposition inside the US federal workforce to its plans to repurpose the machinery of state to accomplish objectively fascist objectives. Which is of course why they're also working to give Der Leader the power to purge anyone who won't enact their heinous ideology in government, and presumably replace them with Heritage Foundation-trained obedient little nazis; as was leaked during Trump's 2024 election campaign.

As this Common Dreams article notes, this plan was originally called Schedule F when Trump tried to enact it near the end of his first term, but the fascists haven't abandoned the project because it's a vital step in enacting their reactionary, Christian Nationalist agenda. Now Trump is attempting to progress this ideological purge and restacking scheme forward under a new title, "Schedule Policy/Career," to ensure nobody with a conscience inside the government sticks around long enough to object to their fascist activities.

Trump Advances Plan to Fill Federal Government With 'Political Cronies'

https://www.commondreams.org/news/trumps-schedule-f-plan

"Everett Kelley, national president of the American Federation of Government Employees (AFGE), said Friday's announcement was the latest "in a series of deliberate moves by this administration to corrupt the federal government and replace qualified public servants with political cronies."

"President Trump's action to politicize the work of tens of thousands of career federal employees will erode the government's merit-based hiring system and undermine the professional civil service that Americans rely on," said Kelley. "Politicizing the career civil service is a threat to our democracy and to the integrity of all the programs and services Americans rely on."

On some level, what the regime is attempting to do here amounts to a "jobs for cracker Republicans, and nobody else" program. But none of the stories about Trump politicizing the American government can be properly contextualized in a vacuum. The fact is that this is a fascist regime, attempting to force the entire US government to enforce a fascist "unreality" on society that would justify and enable their Christian Nationalist plans and intentions. Every single horrible thing Trump wants to do, every single idea the nazis want to turn in its head to harm rather than help people, becomes easier if the regime can purge opposition from the government and stack thousands of civil service positions with folks who ideologically support all this fascist bullshit.

Archived: https://archive.ph/swEG3

#Fascism #Trump #USPol #ScheduleF #ChristianNationalism #Purge #IdeologicalPolicing #LaborRights #AFGE #EverettKelley

AnarchoNinaAnalyzes
One of the reasons I have no problem characterizing the Trump regime as an openly Christian Nationalist government, is the administration's stated attempts to turn roughly seventy years worth of civil rights laws on their head to instead fight against made up fascist moral panics like "reverse discrimination," "the assault on religious liberty," and "gender ideology turning our kids trans." This plan, which the fascists have articulated in the open multiple times, revolves around repurposing the language of social justice to argue that actually, the state should be punishing folks who infringe on the "liberty" of the *real* victims in our society; rich straight white fundamentalist men. Conceptually, the arguments for all this are absurd, but these ideas have been widely adopted (for cynical reasons) on the American right, and the promise to use the government to go after the enemies of an increasingly fundamentalist white American volk is absolutely one of the reasons seventy-five million or so fascists voted for the Trump regime last fall.

Now we're getting a clearer understanding of how this fascist unreality is going to work in real time. New mission statements for the Department of Justice's civil rights division have been leaked to The Guardian, and they make it pretty clear that the Trump regime is going to weaponize the Department of Justice to subvert the civil rights of non-white, LGBTQ, and otherwise marginalized Americans to re-entrench white supremacy as official state policy, and the dominant ideological position in our legal discourse.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/apr/18/justice-department-civil-rights-division-trump

Trump ally pushes DoJ unit to shift civil rights focus, new messages show

"The justice department’s civil rights division is shifting its focus away from its longstanding work protecting the rights of marginalized groups and will instead pivot towards Donald Trump’s priorities including hunting for noncitizen voters and protecting white people from discrimination, according to new internal mission statements seen by the Guardian.

The new priorities were sent to several sections of the civil rights division this week by Harmeet Dhillon, a Trump ally who was confirmed a little more than two weeks ago to lead the division. Several of them give only glancing mention to the statutes and kinds of discrimination that have long been the focus of the division, which dates back to the Civil Rights Act of 1957. Several of the mission statements point to Trump’s executive orders as priorities for the section."

Speaking frankly, I find this article's "will he or won't he" tone pretty disturbing, but if you actually read through what the Trump regime is proposing it's pretty much entirely nightmare fascist shit. For example, they're repurposing the voting section away from protecting the enfranchisement of marginalized people, to rooting out non-existent voter fraud. The regime also wants to stop enforcing the 1968 Fair Housing Act; presumably to make it easier for rich crackers to refuse to rent to nonwhite or otherwise marginalized tenants. The entire sections on women's rights, educational rights, and disability rights are about persecuting trans people now. Finally the regime wants to reassign the Housing and Civil Enforcement section to focus on protecting the rights of members of the military, and religious land use; so you can expect fundamentalist Mega Churches to start petitioning the DoJ to make it illegal to stop them from spreading their hateful ideology anywhere they like, while simultaneously kissing consumer and lending protections for anyone who isn't a straight white dude who thinks Trump was sent by Jesus to save us from planetary-crisis levels of DEI and "wokeness," goodbye.

Unsurprisingly, many of the Very Serious PeopleTM who have been minimizing how dangerous the Trump regime's "reforms" are already, are once again treating this like "Trump being Trump" and noting that it's unclear how far the Trumpenreich will be able to progress its Christian Nationalist plans in the face of what will no doubt be some opposition from career civil servants in the Department of Justice. Given however that the Trump regime is also moving forward with plans to purge the US government of ideological opposition through Schedule F, and secured almost a billion dollars of pro-bono work from cowardly DC law firms for causes Trump supports, I think this attitude is woefully shortsighted. This is all very real, and very dangerous. The regime has already been quite successful installing fascist unreality based on its reactionary conspiracy theories, and until proven otherwise, I don't see any reason to believe they will be less successful in a Department of Justice being run by a Trump-humping nazi bootlicker like Pam Bondi.

Archived: https://archive.ph/JiYkT

#Fascism #Trump #PamBondi #DepartmentOfJustice #CivilRights #Racism #ChristianNationalism #ChristianFundamentalism #ConspiracyTheories #USPol #WhiteSupremacy #Mysogyny #AntiTransPogrom

James M Branum - יעקב מתתיהו ☮
The Oklahoman newspaper had two powerful op-eds by local religious leaders that attacked the Oklahoma House's "Christ is King" resolution.

I'm hoping you will read them both (links below), but I wanted to highlight a few excepts from each of them.

Excerpt #1 From Rabbi Vered Harris (my rabbi at Temple B'nai Israel of OKC):
As non-Christian clergy, I regularly meet former Christians with painful stories about Christian church upbringings that nearly destroyed them. I know very few Jewish people who have not been told that we will burn in hell because we are not Christian.

I have been dismissed by at least two Oklahoma Christian preachers because my six years of graduate school studying Bible and religion are not "faithful" — in other words: Understanding God is as simple as reading their version of the Bible. They are, as the proclamation says, free to hold and express their deeply held beliefs. However, these same pastors think Christianity and Judaism share "Judeo-Christian" values. From a Jewish perspective, approaching religious leadership without comprehensive learning is a disgrace to the brains God has given us. Unfortunately, it is also an example of the outright dangerous ways Christianity is being taught and practiced in Oklahoma; the same Christianity your proclamation extols as a blessing.

Excerpt #2 (also from Rabbi Harris):
Voting for this resolution was within your legal rights, but good grief: At its most basic level, it is rude and disrespectful to the people in this state whose non-Christian beliefs have shaped our community, society and the state.

I know it is unreasonable to expect an apology for asserting your faith is somehow superior or more noteworthy than minority religions in this state. At the least, I hope for an acknowledgment that the wording of this proclamation fails to be supportive of all Oklahomans, and it disregards the damage done to Oklahomans in the name of Christianity.

Excerpt #3 (from Rev. Adam Young of Sunny Lane UMC in Del City):
Earlier today, the House passed Concurrent Resolution 1013, a proclamation declaring “Christ is King.” As a United Methodist pastor, I believe that phrase deeply — but only within the context of faith, worship and the countercultural way of life Jesus calls us to. When the state takes those sacred words upon its lips, they are transformed into something else entirely. What was once a confession of worship becomes a political power play. What was once a theological truth becomes a civil decree. And in doing so, the government steps into the dangerous territory of Christian nationalism.

Let me be clear: This resolution is unconstitutional, anti-democratic and theologically misguided.

Excerpt #4 (from Rev. Young):
HCR 1013 betrays the Christ who refused power and domination. In Mark 10, Jesus gathers his disciples and says, “You know that among the gentiles those whom they recognize as their rulers lord it over them, and their great ones are tyrants over them. But it is not so among you; instead, whoever wishes to become great among you must be your servant… For the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve and to give his life a ransom for many.”
Jesus never crowned himself king. The title he uses is “servant.” His vision is an upside-down one, where the first are last and the last are first. The only throne Jesus ever sat on was a cross. His kingdom looks less like the Capitol dome and more like foot-washing, shared meals, and solidarity with the poor and oppressed.

Our state, however, often operates in contradiction to this vision. As noted from the House floor today:

* The first bill our state passed established segregation.
* Our history is filled with the mistreatment of Black, Native, Latine, Asian, Pacific Islander and Middle Eastern communities.
* We criminalized “the least of these,” rather than cared for the unhoused.
* We continue to underfund education, and our outcomes lag behind the rest of the nation.

#Oklahoma #FirstAmendment #EstablishmentClause #Judaism #Christianity #ChristianNationalism #OklahomaLegislature #ConLaw #Fascism

AnarchoNinaAnalyzes
While I'm certain Amanda Marcotte and I have different ideas about how to actually fight fascism, I agree strongly with her argument that Marco Rubio's cable asking State Department employees to use a snitch line to report each other for "anti-Christian bias" is both an indicator of the regime's theocratic intentions and an ominous portent of the next moral panic the Trumpenreich will use to purge its enemies and continue installing a fascist dictatorship.

https://archive.ph/7Zge0

Marco Rubio's hunt for "anti-Christian bias" is creeping theocracy

"Unsurprisingly, a deeper read of the cable shows that "anti-Christian bias" is the cover story propped up to justify Rubio's actual assault on freedom of religion at State. He's giving Christian nationalists at the agency a tool to harass and even purge people who don't share their far-right beliefs. The definitions of "anti-Christian bias" throughout add up to outrage that conservative Christians are expected to treat people who believe differently with fairness and decency.

For instance, the memo asks for reports of "mistreatment for opposing displays of flags, banners or other paraphernalia," specifically during Joe Biden's administration. It doesn't take a doctorate in bureaucratese to interpret this. Rubio is seeking stories where conservative Christians were told to mind their own business after objecting to a colleague putting up a Pride flag, a Black Lives Matter sign or perhaps a religious knickknack from a non-Christian faith. This might be more comprehensible if, say, any Christians had being told they couldn't wear a cross or have a picture of Jesus on their desk. Instead, what Rubio is suggesting is that Christians have a prevent other people from having the freedom to express views and positions they dislike — and that it amounts to "bias" if they can't control what others do or say.

Also defined as "anti-Christian bias" is alleged mistreatment for "opposing official media content due to religious objections." Under Biden, the State Department flew the Pride flag, validated the passports of trans people, allowed LGBTQ employees to be out at the office, and expected employees to use the correct name and pronouns for trans colleagues. Under this new policy, if State employees objected to these policies, they are now free to punish those who asked them to show professional courtesy to co-workers. This is not an anti-discrimination policy, but a pro-discrimination policy."

Throughout the rest of the piece, Marcotte does a solid job of debunking the idea that anti-Christian bias is a significant problem in an increasingly Christian Nationalist/fundamentalist America, and pointing out that what Rubio is doing is enabling Christian Nationalists working at State to harass and potentially purge anyone opposed to their odious ideology; including other Christians who do not conform to the very narrow definition of believer the Christian Nationalist worldview allows for.

"What's ironic here is that, because of American demographics, most of the people who risk being targeted by these authoritarian policies are either Christian or grew up Christian. But a large part of the MAGA project is redefining "Christian" only to mean people who share a white nationalist, anti-feminist, anti-LGBTQ worldview — and want to use force to bring everyone else in line."

In other words, it's just another project to install fascist ideology as the only acceptable way to think and act inside the Trumpenreich-controlled US government. Where I think Marcotte's analysis shines however, and what I hope readers take away from this story, is the author's direct connection of this nascent argument for another fascist purge, with its prior two arguments for doing so as we watch them evolve into their horrifying final forms in real time; specifically the regime's fake wars against "antisemitism" and "gang activity."

Like most fascist movements, what some call "Trumpism" is actually a giant quilted patchwork of reactionaries, supremacists, and eliminationists who are ideologically aligned under the big picture fascist umbrella, but have (at times) wildly different priorities and concerns on the micro level, inside each individual clique. One of the core constituencies in the fascist Trump alliance are Christian Nationalists and the evangelical right; whose loyalty to the regime was rewarded with an anti-trans pogrom and assaults on public education (among other things) the moment Trump was inaugurated. Now, slightly staggered as their two prior fake moral panics become exposed as just bog standard fascism, what better way to right the nazi ship of state than to drum up a third moral panic about anti-Christian bias? This would rally the Christian right around Trump's banner, while the regime continues its project to purge "enemies" and install a fascist dictatorship, in what it hopes will become a white ethno-state.

#Fascism #Trump #Rubio #Theocracy #Purge #ChristianNationalism

AnarchoNinaAnalyzes
While a lot of the stories in this thread focus on the cowardice of institutional actors in either submitting to, or even assisting the fascist Trump regime in installing a Christian Nationalist dictatorship, when the history of this political moment is written, it will be noted that it was actually big companies in the US private sector that embraced the regime's white nationalist policy platforms first and in doing so, helped legitimate Trump's quest to rule as King of America. Unlike institutional actors in higher education, lawyers targeted for revenge by Der Führer, or bodies controlled by the (openly fascist) US government through funding, large corporations in the private sector required little if any incentive to adopt Trump's authoritarian "anti-DEI" policies; indeed, companies like Walmart, Paramount, and even Victoria's Secret practically fell all over themselves to align with the regime's agenda, essentially obeying in advance, before the administration had to apply any pressure at all.

Why would they do that? As this short essay in The Guardian lays bare, the truth is that they never really wanted to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion even before the rise of Trump - which is why the programs they installed after the twin motivating factors of the George Floyd protests against police violence, and the COVID pandemic, were never really designed to achieve those objectives in the first place.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/ng-interactive/2025/apr/06/diversity-equity-business-trump-history

American corporations didn’t want to diversify, anyway

"Within days of taking office, Donald Trump signed an executive order that would eliminate Johnson’s civil rights order. The order directed the office of federal contract compliance to stop “promoting diversity” and holding contractors responsible for “affirmative action”. To Smith, the administration’s early actions amount to “a blatant effort in order to not only uphold the white power structure, but to remove any government responsibility to uphold the rights of individuals of color, specifically Black people”. It is the fruit of a conservative movement that has been trying to reverse course ever since the government began taking seriously efforts to protect the rights of Americans regardless of race, sex, religion or national origin.

In 2020, hundreds of private companies pledged to change their culture – to use their power and influence and, most importantly, money, to re-shape American society toward more just ends. Now, the three largest employers in the nation – Walmart, Amazon, and the federal government – have all rolled those policies back. Dozens of other corporations have turned back the clock on even pretending to care about equality in the workplace as well.

To businesses’ credit, they had a difficult task ahead of them in 2020. “They’re faced with putting a policy in place quickly that’s responsive and doesn’t sound like lip service to frustrated people,” Dawkins said. But in doing so, they made an admission: they had not been taking diversity seriously before – and the capitulation to the administration’s demands since has betrayed that truth. And they made clear their efforts were always lip service."

Look, I don't think it's really news that much of the American private sector's DEI initiatives were motivated more by *appearing* to oppose white supremacy and enforced social hierarchies in an increasingly Christian Nationalist political environment, than actually opposing those problems. This was pointed out long before Trump's second term, and obviously their actions since the regime was installed have demonstrated that critics were right to question the commitment of American corporations that directly profit from a white supremacist order that marks out certain groups of people for brutal exploitation. In that context then, it's important to understand that we are in fact not "all in this together" and a corporate sector that gladly donated to Trump's election campaigns must be understood as *active* partners in the installation of a Christian Nationalist dictatorship in America. The fact that they did so because they think it'll improve their bottom line is largely irrelevant; fascist collaboration is still fascist collaboration, regardless of the motives that inspire it.

#Fascism #Trump #Capitalism #DEI #Walmart #Amazon #racism #Paramount #ChristianNationalism #WhiteSupremacy #BLM #ObeyingInAdvance #Pandemic

AnarchoNinaAnalyzes
As I mentioned in the post above, the Trump regime's war on the existence of trans people is clearly important enough to them ideologically and politically, to enact a series of punishments on the entire state of Maine, to cow their governor Janet Mills into submission. That's not just my interpretation as a trans woman, we literally just caught the acting Social Security Administration Commissioner admitting as much in writing:

https://www.commondreams.org/news/leland-dudek-resign

"The top Democrat on the U.S. House Oversight Committee on Wednesday led calls for the resignation of acting Social Security Administration Commissioner Leland Dudek following the revelation of internal emails confirming that the SSA canceled contracts with the state of Maine as political payback after Democratic Gov. Janet Mills publicly defied President Donald Trump in support of transgender student athletes.

The emails—which were obtained by House Oversight Committee Ranking Member Gerry Connolly (D-Va.)—show that Dudek ordered the cancellation of enumeration at birth and electronic death registration contracts with Maine, even though SSAd subordinates warned that such action "would result in improper payments and potential for identity theft."

Dudek—who is leading the SSA while the Senate considers Trump's nomination of financial services executive Frank Bisignano—replied to the staffer: "Please cancel the contracts. While our improper payments will go up, and fraudsters may compromise identities, no money will go from the public trust to a petulant child."

He was referring to Mills, who stood up to Trump in February after the president threatened to suspend federal funding for Maine unless the state banned transgender girls and women from participating on female scholastic sports teams."

I mean good on Connolly to call for Dudek's resignation, but are centrist party strategists even paying attention to what's going on here? I can't stress how degrading it is to keep having to remind powerful cis people who were happy to promote supporting trans rights as a brand eight years ago, that the fascist Trump regime's anti-trans pogrom is going to affect everyone who isn't a fascist negatively, not just trans people. But also, that's exactly what's happening, and even as we speak these same people point to opinion polling as an excuse for leaving trans people and their civil rights to the tender mercies of guys like Stephen fucking Miller.

#Fascism #TransRights #Trump #GOP #LelandDudek #Transphobia #GerryConnolly #Maine #JanetMills #Education #Patriarchy #Revenge #SocialSecurity #CivilRights #ChristianNationalism

AnarchoNinaAnalyzes
As someone who has written herself to exhaustion just trying to keep up with the Trump regime's "shock doctrine" installation of a white nationalist dictatorship through a flurry of autocratic executive orders, I can understand how the larger public might not have noticed the one about defunding and ideologically controlling the niche-sounding Institute of Museum and Library Services. After all, we live in an internet world, were millions of people are happy to ask their garbage "AI" assistant for "facts" approved by technofascist billionaires, museums aren't a big part of your daily life, and unless you're poor or from an underserved rural community, there's a good chance you have no idea what kind of "services" a public library can provide anyway. As this March 21st article in the Guardian demonstrates however, this decision is deeply political and part of the regime's openly white nationalist agenda because of which types of people it targets, what services it removes, and how it fits into the larger fascist war to rewrite history and indoctrinate our society.

https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2025/mar/21/trump-attack-libraries-devastating

Trump’s attack on libraries was predictable. Its consequences could be devastating

"How did we arrive at this moment? The targeting of library funding appears to be financial, but it’s deeply political. Last year alone, the American Library Association reported 1,247 attempts to ban library books nationwide, largely targeting works related to race, gender identity and LGBTQ+ experiences. Librarians increasingly face intimidation simply for defending intellectual freedom, the very principle libraries have always championed.

Yet libraries remain non-partisan, practical institutions focused on ensuring equitable access to information, learning and civic participation. From Boston’s Edward M Kennedy Institute, which offers IMLS supported immersive Senate debate simulations, to voter registration drives and disability-inclusive voting programs in Illinois and Alaska, libraries sustain democracy itself."

I don't think its hard to figure out why White Trash Hitler and his government full of nazi ghouls are targeting Indigenous communities, poor families, disabled people, educators, students, and folks dedicated to registering voters; in a variety of ways all of those groups are already people the regime has marked out as enemies of the new fascist order. Crucially however, I think this executive order has to be understood as part of a larger war on our history, education, and the accessibility of viewpoints that would be fundamentally opposed to a fascist regime like the Trump administration as a matter of course. Downmarket Mussolini isn't writing these executive orders in a vacuum and I'm glad this article's author tied what's going on here into the larger fascist quest to control the content of libraries; first in schools and now through the public library systems in America.

Reading this story I was reminded of a 2023 comment in the New York Times from Deborah Caldwell-Stone of the American Library Association in the face of the nationwide crusade to ban library books by a very small number of fascists closely aligned with Trump and the larger Christian Nationalist movement. I don't have the exact quote in front of me, but Caldwell-Stone provided a great example of the "boiling frog" style of war on learning these people are waging by pointing out that two years prior, these fascists had been banning books by nonwhite, LGBTQ, and otherwise diverse authors in school libraries and telling folks that if they wanted to read them, they could just go to a public library and do so for free. By the time Caldwell-Stone had given the interview however, that very same group of ideologically motivated fascists, were pushing for all the same books to be banned in public libraries too; which makes it pretty clear that the goal isn't protecting students, but rather to keep *anyone* from consuming knowledge this Christian Nationalist movement that has coalesced around Trump, doesn't want them to read. Now that Trump is president, and working to make himself King, it's wholly unsurprising that he could continue those efforts to erase viewpoints his fascist regime cannot allow to exist, by starving and seeking to control the very public libraries where your average person would find those viewpoints in the first place.

Folks, I grew in a patriarchal fascist household dominated by my father, who I am certain if he were alive, would fully support the fascist Trump regime today. Access to other viewpoints through public libraries is how I escaped that cracker headcage. If these nazis have their way, none of our children will ever have the same opportunities to question unjust authority and imposed racial hierarchies as I did; and the nazis know that - in fact, they're counting on it.

#Fascism #Trump #Libraries #IMLS #Indoctrination #Propaganda #WhiteSupremacy #Education #ChristianNationalism #Patriarchy #History #Books

William Lindsey :toad:
"The plan Vance offered a prayer for included striking a residential apartment because one militant was believed to be visiting his girlfriend there.
