The PAN African Strategic Studies Initiative is confidently unifying her presence across social networks by transitioning its Mastodon account from "@PANAFRICANSSI" to "panafricanssi@ngportal.com".

This is an exciting development as we embrace our new identity in the Fediverse and enhance our messaging capabilities through the ActivityPub and XMPP protocols, respectively, using the same account.

Time for an #Introduction post. I’m a #liveaboard #sailor (www.svloka.com) and full time #nomad who is also a #creative #artist. I play #guitar, #crochet, paint (#watercolor & #acrylic), and draw #penandink. I love #yoga and use #meditation to manage my #anxiety. Got #sober in 2020.

I am a recovering #softwareengineer (#programmer) and #ITmanager. I focused a lot on #leadership & effective #communication, and I still enjoy #mentoring people on those topics. I still tinker with tech on occasion.

I have just come from a #Council meeting not directly associated with my #Politics but facing similar #community #communication #Issues. On the '#Liberal #Left #Socialist ' wing we are fragmented, Many #narcisstic #Officers . I always argued for one #media #office to speak for all. 'We' had the £'s pre #StopBrexit & after to fund an office & the talent to staff it. Now? No one single voice speaking #Truth to #Power @NRM @PeterCorr

Here's Chris Knight's key article on #ritual/speech coevolution as matrix and scaffold of #trust across #speech #communites. In 1998 he posited 130,000 years, and today it needs pushing back, coinciding with our process of speciation. At least the Chomsky crew here are conceding earlier dates for the critical transition to #language (they used to argue it was in the region 50-70,000 years wgo, which is now looking dumb).

Autistic folks tend to appreciate clear, unambigious communication. It can be hard to tell when somebody is being coy or sarcastic, or using passive language because they don't want to ask for what they need or want.
They can also be INCREDIBLY empathetic. For example, one might really love poetry, a great metaphor. It's helpful to let the autistic person know you're doing this in advance.

While I have plenty of allistic friends who mean so much to me, it's nice to know when someone is autistic, because I can be direct with much less risk of hurting or offending them. No "I hope this email finds you well" or trying to figure out if I should say "Best wishes--" "Warm regards--" "'Sincerely yours--"...
It is so, so nice.

" #DOGE and #DonaldTrump are trying to shut down advanced medical #research, especially #cancer research, in the #UnitedStates...

Reporting is inevitably focused on canceled grants, dismissed researchers, bans on certain forms of #communication...

What’s important is this bigger picture...

They’re shutting down medicine/disease research... throughout the United States."

I only just started this book and I fucking love it. Please read. Thank.

osupress.oregonstate.edu/book/

but no srsly, thank you for considering it. It feels like talking to a friend who Knows how fucked up your family is.

You've been away for a while, so you're shielded from the worst of their damaging tantrums, but uncompromising bare facts of the situation still sober you up somehow.

osupress.oregonstate.eduIndigenous Critical Reflections on Traditional Ecological Knowledge | OSU PressWith more than fifty contributors, Indigenous Critical Reflections on Traditional Ecological Knowledge offers important perspectives by Indigenous Peoples on Traditional Ecological Knowledge and Indigenous value systems. The book aims to educate and inspire readers about the importance of decolonizing how Indigenous Knowledges are considered and used outside of Native communities. By including the work of Indigenous storytellers, poets, and scholars from around the globe, editor Lara Jacobs and chapter authors effectively explore the Indigenous value systems—relationships, reciprocity, and responsibility—that are fundamental to Indigenous Knowledge systems and cultures. Indigenous languages and positionality statements are featured for each of the contributors to frame their cultural and geographical background and to allow each Indigenous voice to lead discussions and contribute critical discourse to the literature on Indigenous Knowledges and value systems. By creating space for each of these individual voices, this volume challenges colonial extraction norms and highlights the importance of decolonial methods in understanding and protecting Indigenous Knowledges. Indigenous Critical Reflections on Traditional Ecological Knowledge is an essential resource for students, academics, members of Tribal, state, and federal governments, Indigenous communities, and non-Indigenous allies as well as a valuable addition to environmental and Indigenous studies collections.   Contributors include: Melinda M. Y'all, I'm frustrated.

I have an internal I'm working on a project with, and every time I send him an email, he wants to have a call to talk about it. I feel like these calls are just me reading my email to him.

I know that this person thinks through things better by talking, but to me, this is a massive waste of time.

How do I find a happy medium? And more importantly, how do I communicate this without sounding like an asshole?

Help me help you.
