Or rather the opposite: Naive code would lead to massive delays due to the cyclic nature of the memory. Having to wait for data would lead to massive slowdowns if code/data wasn't aligned properly. Fun stuff! I bet some nerds got the kicks from making their manager's code run in 1/3 time.</p><p>Random tidbit from the <a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bendix_G-15" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bendix_G</span><span class="invisible">-15</span></a> Wikipedia article:<br>Apparently Bendix G15 was the first computer Ken Thompson ever used.</p><p><a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/todayilearned" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>todayilearned</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/computinghistory" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>computinghistory</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/hacking" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>hacking</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/programming" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>programming</span></a></p>
Bug Hunter Cat<p>My problem, my disgust with the computer world today, is the increasing loss of humanity. The problem is not the technology itself. The big problem is that at times, intermittently, every time a wave of progress brings new things, the first to use them, master them and exploit them will be the darkest specimens of the species. From fire and the wheel to artificial intelligence. It is inevitable. A knife can be used for cooking or killing.</p><p><a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/computinghistory" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>computinghistory</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/humankind" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>humankind</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/evilness" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>evilness</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/software" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>software</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/ai" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ai</span></a> <a href="https://infosec.exchange/tags/artificialintelligence" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>artificialintelligence</span></a></p>
