Blanche added, “We hope common sense & justice will prevail.”

#Trump’s declaration that he & the AG are the sole authoritative interpreters of federal #law for the executive branch; the transformation of ordinary spending responsibilities into discretionary tools to punish partisan foes; the stripping of #security clearances from perceived enemies & opponents; the threat of #criminal prosecutions for #speech deemed unfavorable by the president; & the verbal attacks on #judges for enforcing the law.

…Today, we are witnessing the birth of a new #DualState. The #US has long had a normative state. That system was always imperfect. Our #criminal #justice system, for example, sweeps in far too many people, for far too little security in exchange. Even so, it is recognizably part of the normative state.

What the #Trump administration & its allies are trying to build now, however, is not.

This morning, Dpty AG (& fmr #Trump #criminal defense atty who lost the case that resulted in Trump becoming the first convicted #felon to be elected POTUS in history) #ToddBlanche submitted a sworn declaration at confirming that there are ongoing Cabinet-level discussions that Blanche is involved in about whether the admin will invoke the “#StateSecrets privilege” to shield some info from the court.

…In 2021 #JustinEichorn objected to a bill requiring #Minnesota schools to teach about sexual #orientation & #gender #identity, saying “before you know it, they’ll be reading kids ‘50 Shades of Grey.’ This discussion is better had at a more mature age.”

…Eichorn also co-authored a bill to classify “Trump Derangement Syndrome” as a mental illness.

“As a 40-year-old man, if you come … looking to have sex with someone’s child, you can expect that we are going to lock you up,” Bloomington Police Chief Booker Hodges said in the release. “I have always advocated stiffer penalties for these types of offenses … We need our state Legislature to take this case & this type of conduct more seriously.”

…Eichorn was booked into the Bloomington PD jail & will be transported to the Hennepin County Adult Detention Center, the release said. #Felony charges of #SolicitingAMinor to practice #prostitution are pending, Bloomington police said.

Following the #Jan6 attack, there was a wave of #civil cases & #criminal prosecutions that splintered the [domestic terrorist] orgs & sent many members to prison before sweeping #clemency from #Trump. Among them were group leaders named alongside >30 others in the city’s suit, including #ProudBoys leader Henry “Enrique” Tarrio & #OathKeepers founder Stewart Rhodes, both of whom juries #convicted of #SeditiousConspiracy for their part in trying to block the peaceful transition of power.

As he assailed the investigations into him, #Trump also heaped praise on #AileenCannon, the federal judge he appointed in Florida who dismissed the #criminal charges against him for mishandling #ClassifiedDocuments, calling her “the absolute model of what a judge should be.” [not that the 11th circuit repeatedly had to correct her judgments or anything ]

“The case against me was bullshit,” Trump said keeping it classy, standing in the building where the charges were approved.

#Trump is praising a bill that Sen John Thune, the majority leader, has pushed to criminalize online “#RevengePorn.” Then he says that he could make use of such a bill himself, because no one is treated worse online that he is.

He has no idea what he’s talking about.

If anything, Trump would be the #criminal offender in this scenario, not the freaking victim.

#Trump has cited #DrugTrafficking from #Mexico as one of the factors driving the… #tariffs. His admin has taken a number of steps to push back on the #cartels, including designating 7 of the #criminal groups as foreign #terrorist organizations. That move could result in penalties, including #criminal charges, for companies found to be entangled w/the cartels, but it has also raised concerns from the Mexican govt of a potential violation of Mexico’s #sovereignty.
