ok what do I go with? glacier fort for the challenge? haven't tried a glacier fort in forever. but a lot of the challenge is just elements being removed so the game is poorer in a sense. with the new plant growth graphics, I kinda want to go to a highly forested area. I've been meaning to try an evil biome and harvest sliver barbs to make like, a goth industry vegan fortress, because the procedural icons with black dye and quality indicators are some top quality drip. But every time I try an evil embark I get dead plants rather than evil plants, and as far as I know, there's no way to know at embark generation site where you can farm slivers….

🤯 I just (re?)learned that the current Steam-purchasable #DwarfFortress is published by Kitfox Games, who made a game that I found absolutely captivating, "Lucifer Within Us". It has a very cool timeline-scrubbing mechanic for investigating mysteries, and it got weirder than I expected towards the end.

New server, new intro!

I'm Charlie, and I just migrated here from tech.lgbt. I've been working in the tech industry for nearly 20 years now. Stuck between #GenX and #Xennial. An extroverted introvert. I have three cats.

I love #gaming of all types, especially of the #RPG, #OpenWorld, and #MMO variety. Into too many game series to fit here, but I'm currently playing a lot of #Warframe and #DwarfFortress.

I started my fitness journey in April of 2024.

If I'm not sleeping, I'm listening to music. Mostly indie bands, post rock, shoegaze and dream pop.

I've been getting more into #sustainability and reviving old electronics to keep them out of landfills. Currently restoring, rehoming, and collecting #ThinkPads.

I just started a position as a Senior Security Engineer specializing in IAM and #Azure. Prior to this I spent quite a few years in a senior systems administration position for a mental health non-profit doing a lot of #Powershell work to automate and simplify tasks.

Outside of work I've spent most of my life here in the PNW. I tend to do a lot of #Gaming currently deep in #finalfantasyxiv #flightsimulator #citiesskylines and now #dwarffortress and maybe now that I'll not be stressing about money so much I'll get back into some #photography or finish paining my Tyranid army #warhammer40k
