the baby peers over the edge of the nest. I don't know how far he (?) can see.

baby & parent eagles in the nest. The eaglet is perhaps looking for some dropped morsel in the nest while the parent surveys the surroundings from above

an eaglet stretching it's wings as the parent eagle looks around for signs of danger or maybe food

the adult eagle seems quite pleased with himself.

apparently this couple haven't had much luck over the years

Good morning! Here's a baby bald eagle & proud parent - a couple miles from my home in Maryland

the eaglet is stretching out it's still-fuzzy wings. he then fell over in the nest

the adult eagle appears to glower directly into the camera

Amerikanischer Weißkopfseeadlers ist ein Aquarellgemälde im Querformat gemalt von der Künstlerin Karen Kaspar. Es zeigt den Kopf und Oberkörper eines Weißkopfseeadlers, der sitzend nach rechts schaut. Während der Hintergrund und das Gefieder des Raubvogels mit lockeren expressiven Pinselstrichen abstrahiert dargestellt ist, ist der Kopf detaillierter und realistischer gemalt. American Bald Eagle portrait is a watercolor painting in landscape format painted by the artist Karen Kaspar. It shows the head and upper body of a bald eagle sitting and looking to the right. While the background and the plumage of the bird of prey are depicted in an abstract way with loose expressive brushstrokes, the head is painted in a more detailed and realistic way. The white feathers of the head and the strong yellow-orange beak stand out clearly against the background in various shades of blue from turquoise to indigo and the dark brown feathers of the body and are emphasised by this colour contrast and light-dark contrast.

The crows' strategy is interesting when they're on the offensive (I had seen it before but couldn't document it): they take turn harassing the eagle, so it gets tired and leaves. And I was joking about the "high ground" but it actually seems important, a lot of their maneuvers (both the crows and the eagle) consist in trying to be above the other one.

Mr Crow joined the fight!

For months I've been wanting to take a decent picture of him flying so that you can see his damaged wings that I always talk about. Well, here they are. But as you can see, he can fly fine, and he is healthy enough to attack eagles (he's much healthier this year than last year, flying upwards and for a long distance is the only things he struggles with, here he already had the high ground (high sky?) and he didn't fly far.

The black kite was flying lower and lower which allowed me those cool shots (although I'm bummed the second one here is blurry, it was so unexpected that I forgot to change the settings of my camera).
I later noticed what it may have been interested in: some ducks hanging out in the estuary? Maybe? I'll never know because pretty much when I took the blurry pic, noises came from behind: angry crow noises...

Black Kite flying. The bird is very low, but unfortunately, the picture is a bit blurry.

I watched a bald eagle get mobbed by crows for a while today. Their mate was in a nearby tree also getting mobbed, until they both got fed up and flew off lol

Gestern hab ich einige Seeadler gesehen. Leider waren alle zu weit weg für wirklich tolle Bilder. Trotzdem hab ich mich recht über diese Sichtung gefreut

Yesterday, I saw several White-tailed eagles. Sadly, they all were too far away for good pictures. Still, I am very happy, that I saw them.

Ein Seeadler zieht Kreise am blauen Himmel. Hier sieht man in gerade in einer Kurve von rechts in Richtung des Betrachters fliegen. Daher sieht man bei den weit ausgestreckten Flügeln die Oberseite. Am weit aufgefächerten Schwanz sieht man weisse Federn mit Schwarzem Rand.

Ein Seeadler zieht Kreise am blauen Himmel. Hier sieht man in gerade in einer Kurve links vor dem Betrachter vorbei zu fliegen. Man sieht bei den weit ausgestreckten Flügeln die Unterseite und den helleren, gesprenkelten Bauch. Am weit aufgefächerten Schwanz sieht man weisse Federn mit schwarzem Rand an den hinteren Schwanzfeder-Spitzen.

Queen Mary's troops were defeated, and she fled south to England, where she was imprisoned and eventually executed by her cousin, Queen Elizabeth in 1587. The monument was erected to mark the 300th anniversary of her death.

One of the four rather wonderfully sculpted eagles on the Battlefield Monument in Glasgow. Designed by Alexander Skirving with sculptures by James Young, it was erected in 1887, and it commemorates the Battle of Langside between the army of Mary, Queen of Scots and that of the Earl of Moray, which took place nearby in 1568.
