If my maths is right, there should be somewhere around 77 metres of yarn here! It made me think about clothing production in the post-apocalyptic age. About 32.000 stitches done. I expect to spend another 2 weeks in 'stockinette hell'. * In between helical sock done. Next one is for an upcoming trip as a portable project. * Dyeing experiment with Gotland locks and a mini-sample of yarn. Love the color, but the locks got slightly felted although I've been very careful. goblin jane 🍄*three hours later* i have a bowl of washed and picked wool that is now soaking in my sink with a tiny splash of vinegar to be separated out and dyed in the morning! i also found my dyes and dug out my dyepot and spoon. But the one that got be to buy was the soot sprite kit, because I can think of all kinds of fun ways to combine these. consumableJoyLooking at the next Fiber Fusion - June 7-8 outside Seattle - I realized it was at last year’s event I got bitten by the spinning bug. So since June 1 2024, I have acquired an EEW 6.1 (i got it one week later to see if I’d like spinning), a Schacht Ladybug, Turkish spindles and then supported spindles, and, hopefully before June 1 2025, a Daedalus Starling. I guess I’m a spinner now. ElizeneryAfter about 20.000 stitches my first 85 gram cake of yarn is running out. So wound the larger one of 195 grams. I am confident now that I will have enough yarn/fiber to knit the cardigan. consumableJoyGoal of 5 minutes a day of fiber arts seems so much more approachable when all I have to do is sit down at my wheel, grab the roving that’s already there, and start spinning. Even if I only do it for 5 minutes, it’s better than nothing, and it feels productive and calming. She will not be named after a Jane Austen character, so I don’t know yet. I assume Lizzy will travel with me and Starling will live in one place. I think. ElizeneryAll knitting done on the Jirachi sweater. Just ends to weave in and blocking. Started swatching with the luxury hand spun yarn. Matching yarn and project is underestimated. At my level of handspinning I have to take the yarn as a starting point.
