My regular information about hot weather (particularly in Victoria today and tomorrow)
Remember that your local library and the State Library are air conditioned and free to enter. Both have books, charging points, toilets, newspapers, magazines and potentially music and videos to entertain yourself/young ones.
If you see homeless people on the street today or tomorrow, please remind them that they can go to the State Library or any library to cool down.
Make sure you carry a lot of water, and eat cool food over the next two days
It's going to be hard to sleep tonight and possibly tomorrow night. Fans will help (up to a certain indoor temperature), and frozen wet towels will help you cool down if needed. Time to soak a towel, wring it out and put it in the freezer
You are allowed to use the shower to cool down. You can have a cool/cold shower and lie under/next to a fan to keep cool.
Make sure you have ice in your freezer if you can and use it in drinks to keep cool
Stick to the shade, keep your curtains and doors closed to keep the ambient heat from the outside/hot glass away from your inside.
If you only use air conditioning a couple of times a year, tomorrow is one of those days
As attractive as it sounds, going to the beach tomorrow is not a great idea during the hottest parts of the day. First thing in the morning and and after the peak of UV 5:30pm are best, otherwise stay inside, bunker down and keep out of the sun
If you have elderly relatives/neighbours who live in uncooled houses and you have a cooler house, time to invite them around. Heat kills, don't lose people.
