I just wrote a blogpost about the system that I've designed to optimise our power consumption so that we can do everything with a 25 A main fuse.
There are an increasing number of networked devices switching things on and off at the best time to consume the cheapest and most abundant electricity.

Was bringt das?

I bought a cheap body-composition scale today, and got it working with the #homeautomation while remaining completely offline.

The trick is to patch the Android app to allow debugging, so that you can pull the SQLite database files off your phone using ADB.

Don't think I'll ever buy Shelly gear again, so disappointing. Their relays break down after a few years, and their thermostat valves just discharge within a day from time to time. Went alright for a couple of months, but lately a few of them do this weekly. Customer service is useless, and, oh, their country is going full pro-russia & anti-lgbtqia+.

Continued thread

Thought I might already have a ZigBee hub but actually it's an old 433Mhz device. Might be able to get something that works with that I guess. I don't seem to have any buttons for it, just a door sensor and a motion sensor. I got these to replace some functionality of a H̶o̶m̶e̶ ̶A̶l̶e̶r̶t̶ AlertMe system back when H̶o̶m̶e̶ ̶A̶l̶e̶r̶t̶ AlertMe went bust (anyone else remember HomeAlert, we still have a box full of their stuff lol... keep meaning to take it apart and see if I can so anything with it.)

Also apparently the Phillips hue bridge thing we have might be able to talk to non-Phillips zigbee stuff. I don't think I've got anything to test that out with but I guess I could order a button and find out, someone pointed me at Ikea - and this SOMRIG button seems a good option and is cheap: ikea.com/gb/en/p/somrig-shortc

Probably I'm hoping for too much wanting batteryless stuff, doesn't seem to be quite out there enough yet. I was thinking of the Qinitiq stuff in particular.
