The peril of the #DualState lies precisely in this capacity for targeted suppression. [Many]…people can ignore the construction of the #PrerogativeState simply because it does not touch their lives. They can turn away while dissidents & scapegoats lose their political #liberty. But once the prerogative state is built, as Fraenkel’s writing & experience suggest, it can swallow anyone.

I am excited to announce the

Will We Let a Digital Coup Against Democracy Prevail?

#DOGE, #Democracy, & What the #Privacy Act of 1974 has to do with it

"Right now in #WashingtonDC, technology is being weaponized...

If it wasn’t already abundantly clear that how #technology is built & used can control our daily lives, manipulate our system of #governance, & be a dire threat to #liberty (code as #law), this past month has made these truths fully evident."

"Liberate" teableau for 02/22/25

Leopards & grapes are symbols of Dionysus, who for 2600+ years has represented Nature, inspiration, the arts, gathering, joy, mobility, the foreigner, abundance, & curing disease~ which are all being stolen away.

He also represents LIBERATION.

And even resurrection.

What I find fascinating as an autistic person is how often I envision an anarcho-syndicalist society. Every day, I imagine a world built on freedom, solidarity, and mutual aid, a society where people are empowered to live with dignity and autonomy.

Yet, when I look around me, I see the overwhelming reality of the system I’ve been suppressed by for nearly 25 years. It’s a system that feels broken, unjust, and dehumanizing, a constant reminder of the garbage we’re forced to endure.

As an anarcho-syndicalist, I envision a society grounded in freedom, solidarity, and direct action. My commitment to these principles shapes my understanding of true liberation.

Freedom is Non-Negotiable: Individual liberties should never be conditional. True liberation means trusting people to think critically and organize voluntarily, free from oppression and censorship. Limiting freedoms for the so-called greater good betrays the ideals we strive to uphold.

Rejecting Authoritarianism: I stand firmly against all forms of authoritarianism, including centralized power and oppressive governments. History shows that hierarchical structures often lead to the suppression of rights and autonomy. We must dismantle these hierarchies and empower individuals to control their own lives.

Empowerment Through Direct Action: Real change occurs when communities unite to assert their agency. I advocate for grassroots organizing, strong unions, and direct action as essential tools for achieving social justice. By coming together, we can challenge the status quo and create systems that serve human needs rather than profit.

Solidarity and Mutual Aid: In our struggle for a better future, solidarity and mutual aid are vital. Fostering cooperation among workers and communities allows us to resist exploitation and build a society that prioritizes collective well-being over individual greed.

The Importance of Open Dialogue: A healthy society thrives on open dialogue and critical thinking. Silencing dissent breeds resentment and weakens our collective strength. Every voice matters in the fight for liberation, and we must create spaces where diverse perspectives are heard.

Together, we can work towards a decentralized society where individuals are empowered to make decisions that affect their lives. Let us unite to dismantle oppressive systems and create a world based on voluntary cooperation, equality, and justice for all!

DRM is malware; more specifically, it's ransomware. It's software, running on your computer, whose sole purpose is to artificially restrict your ability to use that computer until you pay money to remove this restriction.

Similarly, client-side anti-cheat for multiplayer PC games is malware; specifically, spyware (at least). Its purpose is to surveil your entire computer, and punish you if you run certain combinations of software at the same time. All anti-cheat measures should be server-side.

It's software running on your computer whose sole purpose is to artificially restrict your ability to use that computer until you pay money to unlock it.

Rarely do private companies find themselves punished for using #shell #companies to move capital and avoid taxes.

The fine accountants at Ernst & Young cooked up a complicated scheme in 2008 for a restructuring of #Koch #Industries via shell entities in Luxembourg,
a notorious tax haven, with the reasonable expectation that the ruse would never be revealed.

But then someone leaked a raft of private documents from #Mossack #Fonseca, a law firm in Panama that specializes in the creation of shell companies.

The info dump became known as the #Panama #Papers, and among its many revelations was Koch Industries’ bid to reinvent parts of the company, on paper,
as tax-avoidant Luxembourg shell companies.

According to the Center for Public Integrity, the essence of the Koch Industries deal was to
“reorder the ownership of many subsidiaries and centralize them under Luxembourg companies that are all served by internal corporate finance companies,
akin to a company’s own bank.”

Maybe that’s where the Koch siblings got the idea to get behind #DonorsTrust
—a sort of house bank for the array of political entities and think tanks they fund.

Of course, as with all of the organizations funded by Koch, they’re not in it alone.

#Betsy and #Dick #DeVos helped fund DonorsTrust, according to Mother Jones.

And then there are the many Koch-network “pass-through” groups, such as "Freedom Partners"
and the "Center to Protect Patient Rights",
which function much the way that shell companies do in the world of private capital:
-- they add layers of obfuscation over the provenance of the dollars flowing from one right-wing organization or institution to the next.

For instance, there’s the #Wellspring #Committee,
a pass-through funded in part via the Koch network, whose director, Ann Corkery, also sat for six years on the board of the #Becket #Fund for #Religious #Liberty,
a pro-bono law firm, according to tax filings.

With its portfolio of so-called religious freedom cases,
the Becket Fund gained notice as the firm representing the principals of the #Hobby #Lobby company in
a 2014 Supreme Court challenge to a mandate in the Affordable Care Act
for employer-based health insurance to cover,
without a co-pay, the costs of prescription #contraception.

One type of private company is the “#closely #held” variety, which may occasionally trade stock publicly, but has only a few shareholders.

The Supreme Court’s decision in favor of Hobby Lobby (number 106 on the 2016 Forbes list of the nation’s top private companies) specifically cited its “closely held” status as a qualification for its exemption from the ACA contraceptive mandate.
