I don't usually buy the local newspaper, because it is crap. But my chess student was featured on the front page on Friday, so it had to be done...
I like Hobart. I like walking around the city, the parks, Kunanyi/Mt Wellington and the old parts like Battery Point and Salamanca.
The thing I don't like is that almost every time I've visited recently, the marina has been home to one of those giant floating, planet destroying germ breeders, aka, cruise ships.
Australia has a reputation for dangerous animals.
Here's a Pademelon. They can be skittish when they zoom off and can bump into your shins if you're in their way

That's a lot of money to help destroy our planet.

On Saturday, work took me to Huonville in the south of the state. I was accommodated at a guest house overlooking the valley which was filled with mist in the morning
Ok, my weekend.
Friday was the most amazing aurora in Tasmania that I could see from my back garden.
Saw my first ever aurora (australis) last night when I nipped out for a spliff (sort of a universe dancing moment that one). It lasted only six or seven minutes but I was like a kid (and got in trouble for swearing in front of da real kid - because I was so excited). I haven't moved that 
fast to get my phone in quite a few months... and props to #Googlepixel because I'm no photographer but #nofilter
