Interestingly the remains of three included, dismembered but intact, tusks of the animals. It is thought that the tusks were being used to create ivory spear heads. the find is helping archaeologists to better understand how humans and Mammoths lived just before the peak of the last Ice Age. LisaMammoth tusk and bone inside of the permafrost research tunnel just outside of Fairbanks, Alaska. My son and I got a once in a lifetime opportunity to tour the tunnel.
