Question for #teachers , #itadmin (s) and #school involved people:

Filtering unwanted web content on #wifi school with #pihole , instead of paying for an external service (#nextdns , ...), is it crazy or actually realistic?

Been using #NextDNS now for over six months and hands down this is worth every single penny of the subscription! I have a #Synology WAP/ firewall/ router connected to #Starlink (in #bypass mode) and have the NextDNS daemon installed on the router. Since the router is the DHCP server and authoritative #DNS server for my #LAN, it ensures all of my DNS #traffic and NS lookups are encrypted and handled by NextDNS.

And, NextDNS has DNS-level web content filtering, so I have all #ads, #tracking, and other "#annoyances" filtered out as well.

The result? A very fast, and very pleasant web experience whether I'm on my phone, my laptop, or my PC.

Seriously. Can't recommend NextDNS enough!

Setup #NextDNS on my #Tailscale network. Now how can I check that this is working?

I often feel the struggle of using a Google Pixel (P7) with #GrapheneOS. Most of my friends have the latest iPhone's and can do pretty much everything faster than I can. This is not a Graphene issue as such, I also use #orbot to route most of my traffic through #Tor, making my connection a little slower. I've also got strict DNS rules setup through #NextDNS and I occasionally get caught out trying to access a blocked site...

So, it says that NextDNS app is not compatible on my device using Graphene OS (Pixel 7)!

This is strange! I can't find any documentation or similar issues online!

Can anyone help me?

Ok, I basically struggled my ass off to set up Next DNS on my Linux distro (KDE Neon)!

Got it done though, somehow!

Not everyone's cup of tea, Linux isn't!
