OK, #tailscale works together with #pihole , I'm very happy. It is also installed on my #synology #NAS
Next step: disable all Synology-related #portforwarding on my #router (especially 5000, 5001 and 6690 for Synology Drive).
I can't understand how to use my #DSM without those ports being forwarded. Do I need to autorise them somewhere? How does it work in conjunction with #QuickConnect or synology.me ?

Ich habe zwar gesehen, wie man den Dump aus der #wikipedia zieht, aber keine Ahnung, ob es möglich ist, diesen dann auch lesbar auf der Cloud zu machen. Wenn irgendjemand eine Idee hat, würde ich mich sehr über Hinweise freuen.

I’m learning Ansible with a project to deploy and update my infrastructure of my homelab. This will include multiple steps (alias, ssh config, dns record, static ip, ssh key, apt cache,…)
Today, I warped a couple of modules. One of the give me trouble “DNS Records” on my Pihole. My loop editing the file creates Pi-hole instability and loses many of my records. The easy path is to edit a copy of the config and push it at the end :-)

(4/10) I've dabbled with #opnsense and #pihole. I'm actively using #pihole right now, lol.
I also did #android modding. From a young age of 12, I rooted my first #android phone and installed #cyanogenmod! Don't remember the model of the phone exactly but it was a fun yet scary times. But Cyanogenmod shut down in 2016 and now it's #lineageos! YAY! But I broke my phone somewhere around late 2020 or early 2021. I did get a smartphone again but am too lazy to mod it.
For those that #selfhost and have a #homelab and use something like a #minipc for #proxmox, #docker and other small projects e.g. #PiHole, Bluesky, Mastodon, VPN server, #Nextcloud, what hardware would you recommend? Budget around AUD4-500 (USD250-300), dual-NIC in case I do something routery with it later, doesn't need any wireless connectivity, not going to be connected to monitors or do any media serving/transcoding, won't be a NAS (but I reckon 512GB storage is minimum), power and noise not a problem as it'll be in a comms rack in garage (but would prefer not some huge 2U ProLiant or whatever just so it doesn't wrench it off the wall. I don't mind having "last year's" spec, or considering a refurbed SFF desktop I can load with RAM, storage and NICs.
today is Install Pi-Hole day over here.
It's been at least a year without Pi-Hole, and now I'm fed up. It goes back in service.

@chiefgyk3d Are you spying on me? My wife works in marketing and she did not like me installing a #pihole on the network at all. Had to set up her devices for no blocking. I don't know how people use the internet like that
It’s wild to me that it’s taken this long for me to sort out local hostnames on my LAN. I’ve always done without, using bare IPs and bookmarks like an animal 
Finally got this automated in #k3s and #opentofu by patching into my #pihole to register the hostname. Strange being able to then access the host on my phone of all places. I know this probably seems trivial to most people but it’s novel for me 
Next would be getting it to work through #tailscale with sidecars.. though I wonder what the benefit would be of that over just having a single Tailscale node in the cluster allowing routing to all k3s pods and their hostnames..
