infryq<p>I made this cool owl! I was part of a tester group for a new class at Protohaven for laser engraving and used a couple different techniques to get this effect. </p><p><a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/protohaven" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>protohaven</span></a> <a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/pittsburgh" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pittsburgh</span></a> <a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/makerspace" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>makerspace</span></a></p>
infryq<p>New instance, new <a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/introduction" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>introduction</span></a>!</p><p>Hello I'm Katie, and I like to practice making things. These days most of that goes into volunteering at <a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/protohaven" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>protohaven</span></a>, a maker space in <a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/pittsburgh" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>pittsburgh</span></a>, PA, where I'm using my comfort in the textiles area to boost me up into everything else (latest discovery: table saws are awesome). Currently in progress: a sheet metal and plasma cutter project to enhance my fabric stash storage; refurbishing a 1912 treadle Singer <a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/sewing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>sewing</span></a> machine; and <a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/reupholstering" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>reupholstering</span></a> as many shitty techshop drafting/bar stools as I can before my attention span runs out. I'm a garment sewist but I've never really got along with commercial patterns. I live in a house over a hundred twenty years old and enjoy <a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/repair" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>repair</span></a> in the spirit of that era. I am beginning to paddle in the <a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/fountainPen" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>fountainPen</span></a> pond.</p><p>I do a lot of personal recipe development for <a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/vegan" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>vegan</span></a> <a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/fodmapFriendly" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>fodmapFriendly</span></a> dietary restrictions and will often post recipes here. I don't CW food photos but I do hashtag them if you need a wholesale filter.</p><p>Past passions have included vegetable gardening, sheep to yarn, plant based dyes, fermented foods, wine and beermaking, acrylic printmaking, nail art, calligraphy, embossing (the kind with the stylus and the kind with the heat gun).</p><p>I am constantly listening to <a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/audiobooks" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>audiobooks</span></a>, mostly speculative fiction.</p>
