TitoRigs<p>Oh, one more <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/RigTip" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RigTip</span></a> </p><p>Did you know you can increase the scale factor beyond 1?</p><p>Super useful to tweak skin weights without losing the overall posed shape, as would happen with the "Add" brush.</p>
TitoRigs<p>¿Did you know that there is a hidden attribute on the skinCluster node called "bindPreMatrix"?</p><p>This kind of subtracts the deformation of the equivalent joint on the same index position connected to the Matrix attribute. Sounds a bit complicated, but the possibilities are huge!</p><p>Like creating dynamic pivots or creating an extra deformation layer with controls that follow the existing deformation.</p><p>Miquel Campos explains this here:<br><a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X2Uj0mHynFQ" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="ellipsis">youtube.com/watch?v=X2Uj0mHynF</span><span class="invisible">Q</span></a></p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Maya3D" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Maya3D</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/rigging" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>rigging</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/rigTip" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>rigTip</span></a></p>
TitoRigs<p>Okay, here goes the first <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/rigTip" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>rigTip</span></a> on <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Maya3D" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Maya3D</span></a> that I wish I discovered earlier:</p><p>When skinning with ngSkinTools (that I recommend using) if you press "S" you can select the joints and see their influences directly on the viewport, without having to search for them on the list. This really speeds up the skinning process.</p><p>P.S. The rig below is not mine (I can't show my rigs, because NDAs), its from Emilio Serrano. You can download it for free on Gumroad </p><p><a href="https://milio-serrano.gumroad.com/l/oavgt?layout=profile" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">milio-serrano.gumroad.com/l/oa</span><span class="invisible">vgt?layout=profile</span></a></p>
