For #SchiffsSamstag here's the Bay of Kotor in Montenegro back in 2016. Two cruise ships are visiting on this day with Cunard's Queen Victoria getting the dock space beside the city while Royal Princess has to anchor and shuttle its passengers ashore by tender boat.

We're on water in a bay nestled between rocky hills, and we're clearly on a small boat and speeding away due to our low angle and the foaming water of the wake on the bay's otherwise flat surface. The hills to the right are bathed in sunshine showing off the dry, rocky faces of its sides and the olive green covering of foliage dotted all around. The hills to the left are in shadow. It feels early in the day with the sun not having quite cleared the landscape on the left. There are two large cruise ships in the bay. One to the left and further away looks to be docked at shore. It has a dark blue hull and red funnel above its tapering decks of white cabins. Most of the ship is shadowed with only the top aft sections catching any sun. The cruise ship to the right, a little larger and a little closer, is anchored in the bay, completely white, and facing directly at us. The left half is bright, while the right half is shaded as expected.

Stretching Across The Lower Left Corner Is The Golden Reflection Of The Sun As It Touches The Out Of Sight Horizon. In The Upper Left Corner Is What Appears To Be A Sky Illuminated By A Setting Sun. Above The Water And Running From Left To Right Are Two Large Hills Or Small Mountains, Devoid Of Any Trees. The First And Closest: Rising From The Left Till It Almost Touches The Top Margin Before Rapidly Falling Back Towards The Shore. A Further Smaller Hill Is In The Top Right Corner. As If The Photo Has Been Folded In Half, The Two Hills Are Reflected Symmetrically In The Water Below. The Only Thing Breaking The Water's Surface Is A Medium Sized Cruise Ship Under Way, Close To The Shore And Moving From Left To Right. The Ship Is All White, Very Sleek, Illuminated And With A Funnel Trailing A Streak Of Grey Smoke.
The Location Is North Of The Lyngen (Fjord) In Norway's Arctic North And The Ship: The Seabourn Ovation (2018)

For #SchiffsSamstag here's the Ultra Cape Town, a general cargo container, anchored - as we were at the time, too - just south of the Suez Canal in 2019.

It's just after sunset and we're at sea. The sky has a thin layer of dusky pink and pale yellow cloud over it and the dark blue-black water has picked up some purples and pinks on its generally flat surface. It feels still and quiet and there's a sense that we're at anchor and high up on a vessel close to another similarly stationary on the water. That ship is a cargo vessel, unladen as far as we can see. Its hull is dark red with bold white writing "Ultrabulk" written on its side. It is facing left and pointed slightly towards us so its bridge is at the rear on the right. Lights from the bridge and on tower structures along the ship's length cast green glows on the water by the ship's high hull.

For #SchiffsSamstag here's a view from Portsmouth harbour entrance, after sunset in August 2009 with a ferry departing and on her way to France or Spain. This photo was taken from the Still & West pub, one of a few in this fabulously picturesque and historically interesting area of our home city. Across the harbour you can see Gosport.
