TITLE: Study sheds light on what causes long-term disability after a stroke and offers new path toward possible treatment
URL: https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2024/12/241217140903.htm
Researchers have revealed how an overlooked type of indirect brain damage contributes to ongoing disability after a stroke. The paper shows how the thalamus -- a sort of central networking hub that regulates functions such as language, memory, attention and movement -- is affected months or years after a person has experienced a stroke, even though it was not directly damaged itself. The findings may lead to new therapies that could reduce the burden of chronic stroke, which remains one of the leading causes of disability in the world.

When we're told something repeatedly, we internalize that information, and it becomes part of who we are. For some of us, this is a huge problem. Here's why—and what to do about harmful self-beliefs, writes @ifoundmo https://t.co/WdklrV7rYv

I’m happy to help people look for work in the UK,
e.g. give them a list of job sites and CV phrasing tips (wait. I should do that anyway, huh. Hoorah! Less social)
Indeed.co.uk, reed.co.uk,
monster (yes it’s a job site),
jobcentreplus (idfk man, sometimes I find gold, sometimes nothing),
guardian / telegraph / independent / metro / local newspaper jobs,
individual employers’ career pages (look in the website footer: the little lists of weblinks at the very bottom of a webpage, usually. Sometimes they’ll be in the header or navigation menu at the top or along one side).
Wish me luck over the next few months. I really feel like I’m not going to make it.
My intuition about bad things is usually good (no pun, was that a pun?) & I’ve felt this coming on for about 3 years.
I was meant to take 2 months off at the end of this year but it didn’t happen bc other people didn’t do their jobs. I haven’t found a safe place to live. #NDIS has gone to #AAT before #Christmas which I specifically asked to be done after.
If other people not doing their jobs kills me, I want it known.
Maybe it’s petty, but I will try to keep a list, & that list includes my family for making me miss out on any comforts including my own birthday since March.
It hasn’t ended, there’s no relief now my sister has moved next door.
I need more help & a safe place to live.
I keep asking. Please help.

Many people struggle to name or even recognize the full range of their feelings—let alone manage them. Here's how a tool called the emotional wheel can help, explains @DrDJMoran https://t.co/pVgUzl8LbN
