For some reason, I often end up capturing solitary people in my photos. Not necessarily because they’re alone in life, even if more people claim to feel lonelier than ever... But I’ve always been drawn to that quiet expression. Maybe because I find a sense of rest in it, since I struggle with groups of people in general. Maybe also because it scares me.

Because even though I’ve often been alone and found comfort in it, surrounded by my small circle of close friends and family, there’s also a fear of drifting so far out that no one even knows I’m there anymore. And I can feel it happening—how, with everything going on, I’m slowly moving further and further away from humanity and this fucked-up system that is society. For better or worse.

And I love humanity’s incredible abilities and potential. And even though I look at it with #hope, it is still, despite everything, a double-edged sword.

Sometimes, the true path in life is a solitary one.
