Home for lunch & I got my <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Sourdough" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Sourdough</span></a> prepped & in the fridge for the second prove & that will stay there overnight for cooking first thing tomorrow, fresh bread for lunch 😃! Decanted & refed my <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Kefir" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Kefir</span></a> & started my scrap broth in the slow cooker from things I’d saved in the freezer, <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Soup" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Soup</span></a> base for winter eating. Spoke to my sister to see how she got on at the cardiologist then relayed those details to my other sister & brother in <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Adelaide" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Adelaide</span></a>.<br>I had a bit of an argument with someone on here & then she was a little derogatory towards me because I blocked her 🤷🏼♀️. We've made it for 25yrs, since seeing it briefly on a TV pgm where they showed a chef in the <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Italian" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Italian</span></a> Alps making it.</p><p>Never got the name of the dish back then but it seems similar to "Zuppa alla Valpellinese" except that there wasn't an oven-based step to finish it, rather just stove-top with a slow simmer.</p><p>Basically it's a soup of gooey cheese, broth, bread, browned butter and cabbage.</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/soup" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>soup</span></a></p>

Allysse Riordan<p>A most excellent food day with a 'Restorative soup for dragons suffering with colds or influenza' by Anne Louise Avery. I am neither a dragon or have a cold but I recommend the soup. It's fiery and warm and full of gorgeousness. Later it was garlicky green with tofu. More sauce was needed but it was still very enjoyable.</p><p>Rekindling with my love of cooking is the one thing that has been overwhelmingly positive in this life with long covid. Lichen<p><span>I'm really looking forward to zine club tomorrow! I'm gonna make soup as usual and I think someone is planning to bring a collard greens dish! Last night, my mother decided to make dinner for everyone. She wanted to make minestrone, but when she was buying the ingredients, she accidentally bought mint instead of thyme.

Honestly, anything can go in a good soup. This is what went in last night's, and it tastes really good:
Cut up pumpkin
fingerling potatoes
kale
peanut butter!
Great Northern Beans
Seitan, in the form of canned Companion Braised Gluten Cha'i-Pow-Yu
Wakame (for the selenium)
water
veggie bullion
allspice
a good bit of cinnamon
a little Sumac spice
Gosh, maybe that's it. The broth is really tasty.
