"[We are a]n age old Digital Marketing Agency operating over 10 years in the global market
having its main office at AZ, USA. We exist for such a long only because we follow ethical business practices"

Yes, sure. VERY ethical, right? You'd never place tracking pixels into your mails for example, would you?

"Do you want me to send…" – Are you kidding? No, of course. I want you to stop that 🤦‍♂️

Hmm, privacy tip. OsmAnd sends a "unique ID" when you download offline maps, UNLESS, you turn off that identifier. Any kind of UUID transmitted over the web is unfortunately (another) digital footprint ad companies and whatnot can use to follow you through life. You can turn it off. #osmand #privacy #tracking

These antennas on a shelter building at Frontenac State Park in Minnesota attract attention.

What are they?

If you follow the coax lines inside you find they lead to a dusty old Home Depot storage bin in the corner, with a label—

"What is this thing?"

• This box, along with the antennas outside, is a Motus station

• Motus stations detect signals of tiny transmitters fitted to birds, bats, and insects to track their movements across North America

• The transmitters are harmless to animals, and eventually fall off

• At Frontenac State Park, we want to understand how the Mississippi River Valley is being used during migration

I was tempted to peek at the equipment inside … but was admonished not to … and I didn't.

Koala! Go fetch our data!

An underweight koala, with several high-tech monitoring devices attached to its body is lost in a bulldozed habitat. It is making way for cars and a highway. The endangered animal had " a collar with a VHF tracker around its neck, a pin stitched between its shoulder blades and a blue tag on its ear."

Yahoo News · Koala wearing mysterious devices on busy road sparks concern: 'What's going on?By Michael Dahlstrom

@JessTheUnstill @Mojeek and now you know why I have a 10+ year old stupid 1080p TV and will only replace it with a monitor if it ever dies...

  • I want my shit stupid because I want my tools to obey me.

Same with my car: I'll never drive a car made after 2016 because of all the #eCall #tracking bs that doesn't even work reliably in #EDGEland when it comes to emergencies!

  • Not to mention having driven a #Peugeot 2008 not so long ago (as rental) really fucking annoyed me as this thing just decided to randomly nag me for the gazillionth time to agree to shit terms I explicitly declined several times already whilst driving down the road, literally blocking the navigation display.

#Enshittification like that will sooner or later kill people!

  • But hey, at least it refused to pair a passengers' phone via bluetooth if I didn't pull over and turned the engine off! That'll shurely not make other drivers just keep their hands on the handset against Traffic Code...
Infosec.SpaceKevin Karhan :verified: (@kkarhan@infosec.space)Attached: 1 image RANT: Yet another reason why I'll never buy a new car in my life - I had a rental (#Peugeot2008) which is one of these garbage *"#Crossover" / #SuperUselessVehicles* that are *PHAT* outside but crammed af inside due to a needlessly *W I D E* center console and barely adjustable driver seat and steering wheel. - This car is basically impossible to reverse without staring at it's backup camera as it has a giant-ass deadzone behind it. - It's shitty front allows children to hide even easier than the rear and makes parking even more stressful But what made my blood boil is the obnoxiousness with which it's shitty tablet decided to randomly (!), whilst driving >50km/h to just pop up a demand for #tracking bs, offering only "allow" and "later" instead of a "no thanks" / "don't ask me again" option. - Shit like this can literally *kill* people as they fiddle around trying to dismiss it. - I had it pop up 2x (!) within 5 mins (!!) on the same (!!!) trip [not pulling ignition key!] And at the 2nd time decided to pull over to document this shit. This kind of #Enshittification in the form of a #Car comitting an *"Exhaustion Attack"* against it's *own driver* needs to be outlawed, not mandated! → Fingerprinting: Critics say Google rules put profits over privacy
bbc.com/news/articles/cm21g005

“[O]pponents to the change say fingerprinting and IP address collection are a blow to privacy”

“"The same tracking techniques that Google claims are essential for online #advertising also expose individuals' sensitive information to data #brokers, #surveillance companies, and law enforcement," [Lena Cohen, staff technologist at the EFF] added.”

www.bbc.comFingerprinting: Critics say Google rules put profits over privacyGoogle is allowing advertisers to collect more personal information, which is harder for users to control.

As a #privacy advocate, I agree with CNN on this one. Switch to Signal Messenger to keep your private conversations private!

"Signal is one of a number of relatively simple tools that can be used not only to help keep secure conversations with reporters, but also for communicating with colleagues when not discussing work projects, researching legal resources or even chatting with friends."

And "...data #security experts largely agree that Signal is the gold standard."

Also, try using #Tor browser for searching online and be careful about making exact copies or photos of documents, e-mails, etc. "...any documents printed out could include “printer dots,” invisible #tracking codes that can indicate the time, date and location where something was printed."

Thank you Clare Duffy for this much-needed info. And much gratitude to Electronic Frontier Foundation (EFF) & Eva Galperin for helping us fight for our rights!

CNN · How to keep your private conversations privateBy Clare Duffy

I signed the contract for the order of my new electric car yesterday. Logging into their website, I get a notice that I need to consent to data sharing (position, driving data, and voice data) to activate connected features. But most importantly, I get a clear description of what is involved, and I have the option to not agree to this.

I still dislike that they collect data in any event, but it's really nice to see that I actually can say no and not lose much.

@lauren I have been begging people to leave gmail for years...I have mentioned #protonmail which has served me well, and I use several search engines - #DuckDuckGo, #Mojeeck, #StartPage, #Metager - No #tracking - #privacy even a bit of privacy, is better than none. Folks, please leave the #BigTech ecosystem asap. We are here, so that is a huge step. #facebook, #instagram, #TikTok are just as perilous for everyone, even more now post election. Be safe. #mastodon #fediverse #choice #civilliberties

Nein, wir brauchen wirklich kein "europäisches X" was #Habeck hier insinuiert.
