Swede’s Photographs<p>Good morning, friends. 🌹🌹🌹</p><p>15 April 2025</p><p>Several boards on my utility trailer need to be replaced. I've been keeping an eye on them for a few months, and the other day, I noticed that one had deteriorated to the point where it now has a hole. The boards are secured at both ends with top and bottom enclosures, making their removal and replacement a bit of a challenge. To replace a board, you use what's known as the "teeter-totter" method. This involves sliding one end of the board into position, placing a block underneath to bend the board enough for the other end to clear the metal lip of the trailer, and then removing the block to let the board settle into place. Y⃒̸̷̝̜̙ͥͥͥngmar<p>After the test run, first mission: pick up windfall from the road down to the river.</p><p>This is why I serviced the already overhauled tractor first - I really wanted to be sure the brakes work. Found some old boards stacked in one of the barns, then made made a 3m long jig for sending them through the table saw from two pieces of door architrave and some scraps.</p><p>Cutouts where the frame had reinforcements welded in and voila, new floor. At least that can't go flat.</p><p>Also, there's lots of crap underneath, including more cans of mystery fluids that I haven't even inspected/sniffed yet.</p><p>And there's a ton of stuff in front blocking it in. Y⃒̸̷̝̜̙ͥͥͥngmar<p>Found a suitable piece of square tube in the treasure hoard.</p><p>Plan is to cut away the bent L profile, put that square tube in its place, then make diagonals from the axle and cut away the middle section of the axle to increase ground clearance, like this:</p><p>|/▔▔▔\|</p><p>Then a new bed from reclaimed wood. Should have enough long pieces laying around.</p><p>And removable sides. This thing is rather large and beefy, can haul a lot with that.</p><p>Will have to see if it fits down the forest road though, it's pretty wide. The huge tyres are a boon though.</p><p>Balance is good, it's about 100kg on the drawbar when empty, which is fine for our tractor.</p><p>I'm clearing the small trailer next.
