Very exciting news about #Ghost, the blogging software I use for my website, beta testing their new social web integration! Activating it enables direct interaction with blogs on #Wordpress and soon #Tumblr, #Mastodon and the whole #Fediverse, as well as #BlueSky and #Threads according to their changelog:

Firstly it's an ARCHIVE it's not designed to algorithmically 'Feed' you 'Content'

Since #Tumblr (owned by #MattMullenweg's #Automattic) renewed plans to join the #Fediverse, I suggest blocking them (as I have) for the same reason as #Threads: queerphobia and corporate tracking.

Just like the anti-Meta #FediPact (FediPact.online), there's now an anti-Automattic #FediPact2: FediPact2.online

Like I did with Meta, I wrote #iptables commands your #FediAdmin can use to drop all traffic to and from Automattic's IP addresses: pastebin.com/e5UKJCKU (source: AS2635)

After a long silence, Tumblr confirms it is still planning to join the fediverse.

Randomly checked in there today and there are only a couple of active-ish accounts I follow, but the vast majority haven't posted in years.

I've syndicated my blog there for ages but rarely actually log in, wondering if it should be back on my radar again.

I like the fact that Tumblr allows multiple different blogs under one user.

I've now set up a replacement Tumblr page for my Marine Mammal News Facebook Page.

Shame to lose the followers I've gained over the years, but given how flooded the Facebook home feed is with unwanted crap, I doubt many people see my posts these days.

Learning for the first time tonite about #Friendica - it originally sounded like a misremembering of #Friendster, the 2003 #SocialMedia precursor to #Myspace, which, as an #InternetElder, forms part of my long lived experience online. Having been so happy with my #Mastodon & now my #Bluesky experience, it's cool to see the #Fediverse also has an option for both (AND #Tumblr & #WordPress) to be supported within Friendica. I'm not scared of the install either, so this might be a fun option for me.
