Greg Johnston<p>Hiked Paint Mines Park east of Colorado Springs with son and fam, busy due to spring break but quite interesting. Indigenous people have used the area to mine pigments for 9,000 years. Andy<p>This evening after I finished work, we walked up to the loch that the community woodland sits next to.</p><p>Not been up there on foot before. Noss is over the horizon. About 5km there and back. An absolute smorgasbord of lichens and moss, and perfect little microclimates in the moorland as water babbles over the Bressay sandstone. Greenseer 🩷🐇<p>A few snaps of the moors from my walk yesterday -</p><p>a) A bronze age mound/cairn at the high point of the moorland</p><p>b) A view across the moorland as it descends, with a few solitary spruces </p><p>c) One of countless small ponds and saturated peat bogs scattered around</p><p>d) an okay (relative to my usual standard) capture of a red grouse fleeing my disturbance. There are black and red grouse here.
