Y⃒̸̷̝̜̙ͥͥͥngmarFound some pictures of the fixed thumb for this machine from another seller. It's really difficult in Australia to find low-profile welding trolleys that handle a heavy machine (20+KG), AND have a long shelf for the unit itself. That's compounded by a design quirk on mine - the shield gas inlet is dead centre, which means the fittings align with the closest point of the gas bottle. The solution - <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/DIY" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#DIY</a> standoffs for the bottle's cradle (until I can make something more engineered). Y⃒̸̷̝̜̙ͥͥͥngmarStainless Bob tack welding our solar arch on deck of our boat in Brighton in 2016. The only part of the refit I didn't do myself.I thought he was doing a pretty good job of this. I used one on a Sierra Club service trip. Imagine a ladder with two rungs laid flat on the ground. The ends are handles for two or four people. I’m using 3/4” steel pipe with four “T” fittings. Assembling the first three is easy, but the fourth is impossible. I can’t imagine I’m the first to encounter this problem. I’m thinking of sawing one piece in half, screwing each side in and then welding it back. Any better ideas? Thanks.

Welding is oddly satisfying and smelling the ozone reminded me of the Tesla coil we built as students... Guess which of the five shown below was my first ever attempt at producing a welding seam (each course participant made one)? Looking forward to the next lesson. Any welders here?
