I scanned in 94 stones today to make pendants
I developed a process that is somewhat quick per stone: I put my phone facing up in my laser cutter bed and put the stone on the lid. Then I measure the stone with a digital caliper, write the measurement with a dry erase marker, and use my watch to trigger the camera.
I’ll add to this thread as I continue through the process.
Then, I arrange the cutouts, and apply a layer style that turns the stone white and adds a thick black outline. On top of that, I add the little hooky guys that I wrap the wire around.
Next comes the fitting, which is a highly organized process (unless your children are “helping”), gluing, and drying.
Last step is the wire wrapping. It’s a simple wrap but I feel like it does the job.
I’m hoping to try my hand at doing a retail pop-up at a local crystal shop, as in-person sales seem to work better for these, and listing each one on Etsy is a big job.
@ArcaneScience I really like the way you do your settings, very pretty and much more unique than the standard silver bezel!
@paperruby Thank you! I really love your designs too, they’ve got such fun retro charm!
