"Immigrants and Refugees: County of Monterey’s Welcoming Resolution and Know Your Rights Resources."
bikemonterey.org/immigrants-an

County of Monterey Board of Supervisors unanimously approved an update to its 2017 Welcoming Resolution. Other steps the county is taking include but are not limited to: Distributing 20,000 Constitutional Rights for Immigrant Education (“red cards”) in Spanish and English; creating Know Your Rights informational videos in English, Spanish, Triqui, and Mixteco; co-hosting community immigration forums on Know Your Rights; and more.

Why? Monterey County, “Salad Bowl of the Nation” / “Salad Bowl of the World,” is preparing for the new U.S. president, POTUS 47, to take office.

Did you know?

Women have never had equal rights under the US Constitution. The Equal Rights Amendment was proposed over a century ago. (There's a lot of history there, more than I can unpack at this point. Have a look into it yourself, if you will.)

As of right now, the ERA has been ratified, but never published. Why? And how is this related to the current and proposed laws oppressing women?

Although twenty five states have equal rights written into their constitutions or adopted later as amendments, the ERA needs to be the law of the land. This is still the *United* States, yeah?

“The #DOJ issued a withering critique of #Minneapolis #police, alleging that they systematically discriminated against racial minorities, often violated #ConstitutionalRights and disregarded the #safety of people in custody.

“Police ‘used dangerous techniques and weapons against people who committed at most a petty offense and sometimes no offense at all,’ the report said. Officers ‘used force to punish people who made officers angry or criticized the police.’”
