Reminder that Bible passages which have been weaponized against homosexuality using bad English translations, were actually about pedophilia. The bigots began to equate pedophilia with homosexuality, which is not accurate to other language translations of the Bible, nor the previous 2,000 years of Christian theology. This lie is completely in line with Conservative ideology, which is always claiming that "queers are targeting our children" and that "drag is pedophilia", and the existence of queer kids is used as proof of "grooming" instead of proof of natural diversity.

Note: This source is the United Methodist Church, a fundamental, traditionalist denomination which used to ban homosexuals from ministry, and only changed their stance last year (though this article is older than that, it has been a point of division in the church for a while). In addition, a law enacted in 1892 made “gross indecency” between men illegal. This included anything that indicated same-sex attraction, including simple touching, dancing and kissing. The law was extended to women in 1953. In 1969, however, sodomy and gross indecency laws were changed, making such acts legal under some circumstances. The parties involved had to be 21 years of age or older and conduct their affairs in private. Sodomy and gross indecency remained illegal outside of the home or if three or more individuals were involved or present. Thus, Canada’s Criminal Code continued to equate homosexuality with criminal behaviour under many circumstances.

Under executive order by Donald Trump, the US National Park Service has removed the T from LGBT and erased trans people from the "LGB civil rights" movement which they now call "lesbian, gay, bisexual (LGB)". Black Trans women were essential to the Stonewall riots, but 50 years later are still being murdered at an unprecedented rate. Now their contribution has been completely erased.

@fixatedpersonsunit Stories like these are so traumatising for me to read. Continuously whilst empathising with the unjust plight of the subjects as i read, i'm also asking "oh but what if, what if, what if... what would they do to/with me?" Would my physical status give me an advantage over what happened to her [re what i presume to be Melissa's status] wrt how i'd be treated, or paradoxically would it somehow make it even worse? Why is there so much ignorance? Why is there so much hate? Why are so many humans just so revolting? That poor lady; it's so unfair. 😭🥺

I learned in fedi-posts/toots that yesterday/today [timezone crap] is apparently the annual Trans Day of Remembrance. I didn't know that, i didn't know there was such a thing [maybe it's a Merkan thing?]. Other times i read that it's annual Pride Day again, but similarly [though in this case yes i have heard of it] i never know it's coming, til i begin reading of it again. I live under my rock, keeping myself alone at home, participating in no LGBTQI community of any kind, not being activist in any way, just trying to be motivated enough to bother getting outta bed each morning. I wonder if more trans peeps are public & active, or solitary & inactive like me. I admire those with the courage, determination, fortitude, & self-confidence. I know how to spell those words, but that's all. Onya, fellow trans peeps. 🤗 💜

I'm fed up to the back teeth with rabid rancid pig-ignorant transphobes lying & distorting & misrepresenting in this way. From what i have seen over the past decade in the States, & shockingly is being exported to other countries including mine by disgusting RWNJ christo-fascist fsckheads, these haters are utterly fixated on creating this myth, this fiction, this bloody lie, of "transgender ideology". There is no such thing, at least, not any more than there is "right-handed ideology", or "green eyed ideology", etc.

As for the cretinous postulate of "trans movement demands", well oooh ooooh, how scary that must be to haters to hear! Our "demand" is the outrageous request that transphobes & RWNJs stop murdering us, assaulting us, politically marginalising & othering us, et al. OMZ, such horror; how dare we?

The contemporary demonisation, vilification & rejection of trans peeps seems to my eyes driven by analogous ignorance & bigotry as in prior generations for gay & lesbian peeps in so-called first-world countries, albeit sadly still happening in numerous second- & third-world ones. To all these stupid ignorant haters & bigots i merely say the obvious truths; stop your moral panic, LGBTQIA peeps are born how we are, we didn't "catch" something, & you're not going to "catch it" either. You fscken morons.
