I feel like an old person screaming at the clouds, but the banks are getting really weird lately.

If you follow me I’m sure you’ve seen me rant about #Discover card changing what they will allow people to dispute.

#USAA lowered my credit card limit & didn’t tell me. I wouldn’t be sure of it if I didn’t have an old statement to look at because it’s the same old limit from a few years ago, but they did.

I’m also pretty sure that they used to show the running total under the transaction description and amount, and it’s gone now. This is confusing because I just made a payment, that shows pending, and I can’t tell if the new amount is after the payment or not until after it posts, but I’m pretty sure that was the balance before I made the payment.

And #Wallgreens is a pharmacy not a bank, but I still think it’s shady AF that they took the retail price off the pharmacy print out so I have no idea what my medications cost without insurance until I get my EOB. I like knowing what these medication’s cost. Having this information made me decide that getting 10 mg of sumatriptan is absolutely stupid because six of those cost Medicare $800 when it’s less than $80 for six 5 mg & I can just get two of those instead (even though I pay two copays that way they’re only $4.15 so it’s worth it to not drain #medicare unnecessarily.)

Am I just an old person #screaming at clouds now?

A #Texas heroine calls out #GOP Congress Critter Keith Self on his lies about #Medicaid and #Medicare. The crowd in Wylie, TX (near DFW) goes wild cheering.

A woman in attendance challenged Self’s assertions, stating, “You are required by the resolution that you voted for to cut $880 million… It is mathematically impossible to cut $880 million from that committee without touching Medicare or Medicaid.” Her remarks, supported by documentation, underscored the community’s apprehension about the impact of such budgetary decisions on vulnerable populations. The exchange was met with applause from the audience, reflecting broader public concern over proposed reductions to essential healthcare programs. This incident highlights growing tensions between lawmakers and constituents over fiscal policies affecting social services. The proposed cuts have sparked debates about the feasibility of achieving significant budget reductions without compromising critical programs like Medicare and Medicaid. As the discourse continues, it remains imperative for policymakers to address these concerns transparently, ensuring that the needs of all citizens, particularly the most vulnerable, are adequately considered in legislative decisions. #KeithSelf #MedicaidCuts #TownHall #HealthcareDebate #FiscalPolicy #PublicConcern — Help this information get to more voters. 🇺🇸 A well-informed electorate is a prerequisite to Democracy.—Thomas Jefferson At a town hall in Wylie, TX, today, a woman called out Republican Keith Self for lying about cuts to Medicaid. Ron DeSsntis wants to lower the age kids can work to make up for the migrant deportations. What’s next? Raise retirement age to 75?

The #FascistGOP created the problem, let their kids work the harvests and rebuild homes after hurricanes.

When the #GOP come for #Medicare, #MAGA is going to be pretty pissed when Mom & Dad move in with their kids.

In only 66 days Trump has broken so many things. I think people should have taken Project 2025 seriously.

New today from me at Austin Free Press: Congressman Al Green visited #Austin on Wednesday afternoon, to talk about getting kicked out of the House and censured for protesting Donald #Trump.

He called for millions of people to march on Washington, D.C. to protest cuts to vital services, #DOGE, and our current constitutional crisis. austinfreepress.org/no-capitul

For decades, American Big Pharma has been scheming to undermine Australia’s Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS), which has given Australians access to some of the cheapest medicines in the developed world. Their goal? Higher profits at the expense of affordable healthcare. They’d love to see Australia adopt a US-style privatised system, where individuals are forced to pay exorbitant prices for the same medicines we get for just a few dollars.

Did you guys know there is a LIFETIME cap on Medicare part A coverage for inpatient mental healthcare?? I guess this means after 190 days you get 100% of the bill.

I also learned this morning that if you’re in the hospital more than 60 says your “copay” is $419 a day, until day 61 when you pay $838 a day.

I have no idea what 60 lifetime reserve days mean, but it looks like even if you have medicare repeat covid infections will wreck your body AND your finances.

Elon Musk's social insecurity

The billionaire's reckless claims seem intended to manufacture outrage to justify an end to what he refers to as an “entitlement program.”

Tell your Senators to vote No on Dr. Oz for the head of Centers for Medicare and Medicaid.

UltraVioletSIGN: A snake-oil salesman like Dr. Oz shouldn't be leading the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid ServicesDonald Trump has nominated a celebrity TV doctor who has peddled fake cures for his own financial gain to head the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). By now, we shouldn't be surprised, but it's still appalling! It's bad enough that Dr. Mehmet Oz has a history of using his celebrity status to promote unproven treatments for weight loss and COVID-19. But did you know that Oz also supports privatizing Medicare and Medicaid? He has long been a cheerleader for Medicare Advantage, a federal program that lets seniors buy private health insurance for lower premiums instead of enrolling in traditional Medicare. At face value, the program appears to give seniors more coverage options, but because there is no requirement for these private health plans to cover all patients' needs, many seniors remain underinsured. In fact, a Wall Street Journal exposé last year found that the patients on Medicare Advantage who required the most care were forced to enroll in traditional Medicare after their private insurance refused to cover essential services. The result? Private insurance companies that provide Medicare Advantage plans are raking in billions of taxpayer dollars to diagnose these patients without fully treating them. To make matters worse, taxpayers pay 22% more per person who enrolls in Medicare Advantage compared to traditional Medicare. Oz is a champion of Medicare Advantage. In fact, he often hosted segments on his hit TV show, "The Dr. Oz Show," that were sponsored by MedicareAdvantage.com. And there was certainly an incentive for him to do so. According to his disclosures in 2022 when he ran for office in Pennsylvania (and lost!), Oz owned up to $33.7 million in stock in companies that do business with CMS, including between $280,000 and $600,000 in shares of UnitedHealth Group and between $50,000 and $100,000 in shares of CVS Health. Both companies offer Medicare Advantage plans. If his stock portfolio is even a fraction of what it was in 2022, Oz could make millions of dollars should he take charge of CMS and privatize Medicare and Medicaid. That sounds like a potential conflict of interest to us. Nearly 160 million people get their health-care coverage through Medicare or Medicaid--most of them women and elderly individuals living in poverty. Privatization would put these successful programs in the hands of health insurance fat cats who care more about profits than the well-being of the American people. We can't sit by and let Oz take charge of CMS. Sign the UltraViolet Action petition today to tell the Senate to vote NO on Dr. Oz to lead CMS!

Elon Musk Finally Admits Social Security Is on the Chopping Block

The #DOGE chief has revealed his true goals in a #FoxNews interview.
newrepublic.com/post/192579/el

"Trump has said he won’t touch #SocialSecurity or #Medicare, but Musk’s entitlement math makes it clear that both those programs, as well as #Medicaid, are on the chopping block. Millions of older #Americans—many of them red-state #Republicans—will lose the vital benefits"

I'm almost 69yo, retired on Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid. This subject is a measurable part of my anxiety.

Rep Alford on CNN today: "It's true that the Medicare, Medicaid, & Social Security make up about 75% of our budget. We've got to find the savings there.🚨We will do that."

Most Republican Reps agree with Musk, they'll defund the social safety net for tax cuts. Those funds will go to the oligarchs, like Musk & Trump's donors. They're no longer hiding their views bc #Musk, through #DOGE, has emboldened them. #Trump has always lied about not touching SS.

#Trump has used #SocialSecurity as a primary example for what he casts as a govt rampant w/*fraud, waste & abuse*, claiming there are millions of people at advanced ages—including some purportedly over 100 years of age—still collecting agency checks.

“I’m not going to touch Social Security, #Medicare, #Medicaid. Now, we’re going to get *fraud* out of there,” Trump said in an interview Sun. “…We have people 250 years old & all, tremendous fraud.” [LIE, this has been repeatedly debunked]
