#ElonMusk is out here predicting that #Tesla's vaporware Optimus robot will be "the biggest product of any kind of all time." 10 times bigger than any other product ever made by any other company.

Last I checked the Optimus demo a few months ago was so obviously staged/faked that the stock crashed like 10% immediately.

This is what happens when each floor of the pyramid needs to be larger than the last one...

Tesla's robots and self-driving cars vs. the world
As #Musk tells it, there are 7 million Tesla robotaxis already on the road today, and humanoid robots will soon do "anything you want" — mow the lawn, buy groceries or walk the dog.
Reality check: Such pronouncements have helped fuel the #AI revolution and driven up #Tesla's stock price — but in fact, Tesla's cars can't drive themselves, and its #Optimus #robots, which wowed attendees at a recent event, still need help from human operators

humans were “remote assisting” the robots, later clarifying that an engineer had told him the robots used AI to walk. A Morgan Stanley analyst wrote that the robots “relied on tele-ops (human intervention)”

On Thursday, Elon Musk claimed Tesla’s Optimus robot was rapidly advancing then had them engage with his gullible cult fans and work the bar.

But the robots were being remotely controlled by Tesla employees using haptic suits.

#Tesla stock expected to drop after #Elon #Musk fails to offer much more than smoke-and-mirrors with the unveiling of his supposed #Optimus bartender #robots and #SelfDriving taxis: the robots were allegedly faked and there doesn't seem to be a plan to get the taxis on the road, assuming they even work.

Meanwhile, the most anticipated thing, an affordable electric car, was nowhere to be seen. Then again, even if he had unveiled one, trust is so low that no one would believe he could make one.

While I sidetracked you, so did Musk with #OptimusPrime, which might sometimes do "useful tasks" for just "$20,000" in "a future where there is no poverty".

Says the pre-eminent expert in poverty. And in improving (online) society… </irony>
