Thanks; that's a useful data point.
Our place is a bit of a barn, and it's in a very exposed spot. We've insulated the walls and roof and installed heat recovery ventilation, but it'll never be as energy-efficient as a more modern house. We might scrape a C rating if we paid for a new EPC now, but Good Energy doesn't seem to be demanding one.
I'm planning to go through a few winter months with the new #HeatPump before installing a #battery so that I know how large it needs to be. Those things still aren't cheap, and they don't last for ever, so I want to get it right. I suspect we'll need a three-phase supply for that, and then it becomes seriously expensive.
#Photovoltaic #SolarPanels are on the plan, but our roof is unsuitable (too many dormers and curves — yes, curves), so it won't be a simple installation. The panels will need to go on some kind of frame, but then they'll be visible from the road and they'll be a target for burglars. I haven't yet worked out how to deal with that. It may be that we need to abandon that idea and invest the money in a solar collective instead.
