Look what just arrived! My proof copy of Memories of Sorcery and Sand! Custom cover, custom chapter graphics, and even an illustration. All made by me, no AI.
I’m so excited for this book to come out!
Finally, I got the Barbarians of Lemuria Mythic+ Edition core book from France’s Ludospherik Editions.
Hardcover like my older DTRPG print-on-demand Mythic Edition would have been nice, but this is sturdy and the art and layout are both improved.
My review of Conan the Barbarian #18 just went up at Grimdark Magazine!
With a two-issue storyline and a newcomer artist, I'm pleased to see they're still willing to experiment with the title.
(As always, boosts are appreciated!)

I reviewed Red Sonja: Consumed by Gail Simone for Grimdark Magazine!
While it’s possible to tell that this is a first novel by an established comics writer, Simone’s portrayal of Red Sonja is always fun.

Joseph Goodman released a nice tribute to recently departed sword & sorcery author Howard Andrew Jones.
Goodman Games published Tales From the Magician’s Skull, an excellent sword & sorcery fiction magazine edited by Jones.

Got my copies of the 2024 issues (#3 and #4) of New Edge Sword & Sorcery Magazine! Proud to be featured in issue #3 alongside some very talented artists and authors.
Also including a group shot of the full family. Reviews by me are in issues 0, 1, and 3.
My first review of the New Year is up; I reviewed Conan: Battle of the Black Stone #4 for Grimdark Magazine!
This miniseries had some problems, but I’m excited about the upcoming solo titles it will help launch, like Solomon Kane: The Serpent Ring.

My review of Contra Amatores Mundi: A Gothic Fantasy by Graham Thomas Wilcox just went up at Grimdark Magazine! A bombastic, operatic, gory tale of two knights trapped in a strange realm, delivered by one of the editors of the excellent dark fantasy magazine Old Moon Quarterly.

I reviewed Conan: Battle of the Black Stone #3 for Grimdark Magazine! Writer Jim Zub thins the herd in an over-crowded miniseries, but—put bluntly—watching classic Robert E. Howard characters go out like punks hasn’t been a great time.

Boris Vallejo, 1990 (was used as the cover art of 1991 NES game Swords and Serpents)
I reviewed Conan: Battle of the Black Stone #2 for Grimdark Magazine! It's entertaining, but with only two issues to go it seems like the remainder may end up rushed and crowded with too many characters.

My review of Conan the Barbarian #16 just went up at Grimdark Magazine!
My review is kinda scathing! Not a fan of the whole “Are You There, Crom? It’s Me, Conan” thing.

Excluding a handful of reviews published in magazines with remaining exclusivity periods, my fantasy/horror book review archive blog has been brought up to date!
My reviews mainly focus on recent sword & sorcery fantasy, horror, and Conan comics. I hope you’ll take a look!

My review of Conan the Barbarian #15 just went up at Grimdark Magazine!
A strong issue, but I was bummed to see Zub do a Howard adaptation after all the talk about not being a “cover band.” Also, while I mostly like Doug Braithwaite’s art, I don’t think he was up to the task of illustrating an unearthly beauty like Atali (pointy knees, etc.).

I reviewed Conan: Battle of the Black Stone #1 for Grimdark Magazine! I don’t think Titan Comics’ Conan the Barbarian really *required* a big Marvel-style style crossover event spanning space and time, but it’s off to an interesting start, at least.
